Career in High School

He went to Hamilton High School and joined the varsity football team, eventually becoming the starting quarterback for the 2016 season as a junior.

His performance earned him an honorable mention in Arizona’s 6A Premier League, which is ranked as the nation’s hardest football region.

However, the team finished the season with a 7-5 record, advancing to the 6A quarterfinals for the first time in school history until the dreadful performance in 2018.

In 2017, he also led the team to an 8-4 record and a trip to the 6A state quarterfinals, earning first-team 6A Premier League and all-CUSD honors.

Shough was also named to the Semper Fidelis All-American program as the Arizona recipient on March 31, 2017. He earned a 4-4 grade point average.

He was also one of 100 student-athletes (50 males and 50 girls) from 50 states on a four-day tour of Washington, D.C. as part of US Marine Corps events.

Scout graded him as the 16th best quarterback in the country and 183rd overall.

In the 2018 class, he was rated a consensus 4-star prospect and the number 10 pro-style quarterback by both 247sports and Scout.

In addition, he was friends with Cody Bellinger, a future Major League Baseball star, while they were both students at Hamilton.

Scandal of Hazing

For the 2017 season, the Hamilton football club faced its toughest challenge ever. It wasn’t due to an injury or the loss of some key players.

The hazing controversy, however, utterly destroyed and disrupted the team’s image and character.

Steve Bells chose Shough before the Chandler Unified School District returned him to his home in the spring.

According to insiders, Tyler was not only unconnected to the controversy, but he also took the initiative to convene a meeting with the players to discuss it.

Interim head coach Dick Baniszewski was grateful for the gesture. Furthermore, Dick describes him as “dedicated and unselfish.”

Dedicated to the Oregon Ducks

Alabama, California, Georgia, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina, and Indiana all offered him athletic scholarships.

Tyler made a verbal commitment to North Carolina in 2017. He eventually changed his mind and enrolled at Oregon University.

Tyler’s heart was altered after his unexpected visit with the Ducks. He admitted that his emphasis was always on UNC, but he prioritized his family in Oregon.

And it took a lot of persuasions for him to choose Oregon over other schools, according to Rivals.com’s Adam Gorney.

In December 2018, he signed an early letter of intent with Oregon. Tyler was redshirted during the first year of his college career.

He did, however, play eighteen snaps in three games before being redshirted.

Tyler was then given the opportunity to represent his team as the backup quarterback behind Justin Herbert for the 2019 season as a true redshirt freshman.

He also finished the season with 144 yards and three touchdowns while playing off the bench in eight games.

Season 2020

Tyler took over the job left vacant by Justin Herbert’s departure to the NFL for the 2020 season. Despite playing in the NFL, Herbert maintained contact with Tyler via phone calls and text messaging.

The year 2020 was blighted by a coronavirus pandemic; many people died as a result of the virus, while others fought and survived.

Testing, positivity rate, and contact tracing were all strictly enforced for Oregon’s and the other Pac-12 Conference member schools’ November games.

Tyler finally got an opportunity to play quarterback again, and he did so admirably, tossing eight touchdowns and only two interceptions in the first three games, all of which Oregon won.

He also started against USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

When Anthony Brown, a graduate transfer from Boston College, came in with his extensive playing experience, his role was limited.

He was also chosen to play in the Fiesta Bowl with Oregon in Glendale, Arizona. Oregon was pitted against Iowa State, which was led by quarterback Brock Purdy, a childhood buddy of Shough’s.

For the year, he completed 63.5 percent of his passes, resulting in 13 passing touchdowns and six interceptions.

Tyler then decided to enter the NCAA Transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining.

Leaving the state of Oregon

The athlete announced his departure from Oregon University in February 2021 to join Texas Tech University. He fit in perfectly with the team, going 8-of-15 for 106 yards in the spring game.

He started this week’s game against the Houston Cougars. Tyler, on the other hand, shattered his clavicle while playing against the Texas Longhorns, according to head coach Matt Wells.

Personal Life

Coming to the personal parts of his life, people would undoubtedly ponder over Tyler Shough’s dating status.

Keeping the curiosities in mind, we investigated quite a bit on the internet.

And all we ended up finding out was that Tyler is already booked.

That is to say, while he is not married, he is happily in a loving relationship with his girlfriend Jordan Wormdahl.

Jordan, like Tyler, is an athlete. She is a soccer player for the Oregon Ducks.

They must have met at Oregon State University and had been dating since then. Jordan’s Instagram handle is @jordan.wormdahl.

Tyler shared an Instagram post in which he wished his girlfriend a happy birthday and stated that he is a huge fan of her.

Aside from that, there are no rumors, hearsay, or hook-up stories floating around about him. Tyle is clearly a one-woman-man, based on this.

Tyler is also a fun-loving and adventurous person, putting his relationship issues aside.

On a spontaneous or planned excursion, he is frequently spotted traveling around with his closest friend’s family.

Cancer Survivor

Tyler grew up in a difficult environment. But, having grown up in a well-run household, he was trained to deal with adversity and meet life’s challenges.

Tyler’s mother, Dana, was also diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006 at stage four.

This undoubtedly taught him to accept and adapt to his circumstances in order to go on.

After all, running away from difficulties isn’t an option.

In a 2016 interview with the East Valley Tribune, Dana revealed some of the heartfelt events in her life.

She had just returned from a head-shaving party and had to drive Tyler to kindergarten the next day. She turned around to retrieve her hat, which she had left in the car.

Tyler’s mentality was undoubtedly engrained with toughness as a result of this experience, which he maintained with him throughout his life.

As a result, he understands what it means to make significant sacrifices and obligations.

His mother, on the other hand, survived cancer after enduring clinical trials of Herceptin combined with chemotherapy, thanks to God’s grace and everyone’s pure blessings. But, sadly, the remission took eleven years.

Dana was raised in Springfield, Oregon, where her father, Don Denley, assisted in the construction of Autzen Stadium at the University of Oregon.

Also, years later, after joining Oregon, Tyler played his collegiate career in the same stadium.
