Career after College

Shaka Smart was Daniels’ coach while he was a student at VCU. In his first two seasons with the Rams, he played just occasionally.

He did, however, make a brief appearance in the semifinal game between Butler and VCU in 2011. As a junior in 2011–12, Troy averaged 24.4 minutes and 10 points per game, solidifying his role in VCU’s “Havoc” offense.

Troy increased his scoring average to 12.3 points per game as a senior in 2012–13 by starting every game.

In a 109-58 victory over East Tennessee State on January 2, 2013, the player established a record by making 11 of 20 three-point attempts en route to 33 points and ten rebounds.

VCU and the Atlantic 10 both set single-game records with their eleven three-pointers. With 124 three-pointers, he also set the VCU single-season record for three-pointers.

With 251 three-pointers, the American player ranked second in school history at the end of his collegiate career.

Early Years

Troy, who went undrafted in the 2013 NBA draft, signed on with the Charlotte Bobcats for the 2013 NBA Summer League.

On September 30, he agreed to terms with the Bobcats. He was eventually released, nevertheless, on October 10.

In Game 3 of their 2014 NBA Playoffs’ first-round showdown against the Portland Trail Blazers, Troy nailed the game-winning three-point jumper with 11.0 seconds left in overtime. The Rockets won 121-116.

At the conclusion of the game, the basketball player had 17 points. The Rockets ultimately dropped the series 4-2. On July 14, 2014, Troy re-signed with the Rockets.

On July 12, 2016, he was acquired by the Memphis Grizzlies in a sign-and-trade deal with the Charlotte Hornets.

On December 3, 2016, he outscored the Los Angeles Lakers 103-100 to record a career-high.

Likewise, he connected on 12-of-23 field-goal attempts, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Two days later, he beat the New Orleans Pelicans 110-108 in double overtime with seven three-pointers and a game-high 29 points.

On December 29, the Grizzlies defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 114-80, and the player added all 22 of his points in the fourth quarter.
