His family had relocated to Dallas, Texas when they were little and had remained there ever since.

He then enrolled at West Dallas’ L.G. Pinkston High School, where he studied until 2011 when he graduated.

Since he was a young child, Tony has always been quite active and fun. He began playing basketball when he was a very small child, thus.

Early on, he showed skill in the activity, and his parents supported him in continuing since they recognized great potential in him.

As a result, he moved up the basketball ladder from his middle school team to his high school squad before enrolling at the University of North Texas to pursue his higher education.

He chose to major in sociology for his undergraduate degree, although he only attended college for two years before leaving.

In any case, the player has primarily earned money from league matches.

For the 2013–14 NBA season, he began his professional league career with the Detroit Pistons, who paid him roughly $490,000.

In spite of his limited NBA career, the league paid him just over $1 million.

He played for the CLCA for around two seasons, but he later discovered that his stint there did not ensure his eligibility for the NCAA.

He returned to L.G. Pinkton as a result, where he averaged 20.5 points and 13.2 rebounds in his senior year.

In the Class 4A Region II Tournament that year, he led his team in scoring. ranked him the 12th best senior recruit in the class of 2010 for his outstanding performance.

Apart from Anthony Davis, he was the only freshman in NCAA Division I to register a double-double that season.

He would have been among the first-round picks in the 2012 draft according to many well-known sports agencies and commentators, but he opted to stay in North Texas for his sophomore campaign.

Professional Career

In the 2013 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons selected Mitchell with the 37th overall choice. He was the first North Texas alum to be selected with that pick since John Horrocks in 1984.

On July 19, 2013, Tony agreed to a rookie-scaled contract with the Pistons.

Although there was some excitement surrounding his NBA debut, the team gave him much less playing time in his first year.

He only participated in 21 games, averaging 1.0 points and 1.2 rebounds per contest.
