Professional Career

Kemp began his playing career at Centennial High School in Franklin, Tennessee, where he grew up. He began his college baseball career as soon as his high school education was completed.

He enrolled at Vanderbilt University and began playing baseball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. In 2011, he had a fantastic start to his college baseball career, putting up multiple game-winning efforts.

Kemp and his teammates broke the record by leading the Vanderbilt baseball club to its first College World Series appearance.

At Vanderbilt, Tony played with MLB talents Kevin Ziomek, Conard Gregor, and Spencer Navin.

He was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year at the end of the 2011 season.

Most importantly, after a record-breaking season, he was named to the All-SEC First Team. He joined the Cotuit Kettleers of the Cape Cod Baseball League in the summer of 2012.

Vanderbilt went 56-12 in his junior year, with a 26-3 SEC record, the best in the conference. Kemp was a standout player for Vanderbilt during that season.

He had a.391 batting average, 34 stolen bases, and six triples to lead the squad.

Houston Astros

The Houston Astros selected Anthony Allen Kemp in the fifth round of the 2013 MLB Draft after a stellar season at Vanderbilt.
