Grinnell starred in a number of plays during his undergraduate years and after graduation and then had his film debut in 2002 in “Lost Soul,” followed by a role in the short film “The Dangling Conversation” in 2004.

He rose to prominence after starring as a Times reporter in the 2006 biographical crime drama film “Hollywoodland,” which follows a detective as he investigates the unexplained murder of George Reeves, star of the TV series “Adventures of Superman.” 

Since then, Todd has only acted in four additional films: “Dorfman in Love” in 2011, “Blind” in 2012, and “Nesting” in 2013.

Todd is best known for his appearances in television shows, which he has done in a number of throughout the years, but generally in single episodes.

In 2005, he had his first appearance in the “Love, Inc.” episode “Mad About You,” followed by roles in “Robot Chicken” and “The Game” in 2006, before gaining the role of Jason in “Four Kings,” for which he is still known after 13 episodes.

The plot revolves around four friends, Barry, Ben, Jason, and Bobby, who refer to themselves as the “Four Kings of New York” and who all move in together.

In 2007, he appeared in a number of films, including “Criminal Minds,” “The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning,” and “The Wedding Bells,” among others. 

His next significant appearance was in 2008 when he played Anthony Gibbons in two episodes of “Eli Stone” and then Dr. Alex Cominis in six episodes of “Desperate Housewives.”

In 2011, he appeared in single episodes of six TV series, including “Human Target” and “Rules of Engagement,” before starring in four episodes of the comedy-drama “Jane By Design,” which follows a case of mistaken identity in which a high school loner also lives a double life as a twenty-something career girl in the fashion world.

Todd was cast as Dale Gordon in the “Wanted” episode of “Nikita” in 2013, and then as Gavin Hope in “Reckless” in 2014.

Todd’s next major role came in 2017 when he was cast as Dwayne Patrick ‘Pat’ Schneider in the “One Day at a Time” comedy TV series.

Three generations of a Cuban-American family, including a recently divorced mother, her daughter and son, and her old-school mother, live in the same house. In the ongoing series, Todd has currently appeared in 39 episodes.
