After Yard, a marketing and analytics agency named Taylor Swift one of the celebrities with the most carbon dioxide-emitting private jets, Swifties are divided. However, one of Swift’s Reddit fans has proposed a bizarre explanation for her private jet’s record-setting carbon dioxide emissions.
A Swiftie calculated that if 70,000 of her fans stopped eating beef, she could offset carbon emissions from her private jet.
The fan revealed all of Yard’s findings and discussed the singer’s social media following. “If Taylor could convince 70,000 of her American fans to cut their beef consumption in half…”
“It would completely offset her private jet’s carbon footprint,” the fan said.
After that, the fan calculated how much beef equals CO2 emissions and did other calculations.
Swift added, “I also want to say that we don’t need to guilt each other over eating beef. I like chicken as much as beef, so I used to choose between them based on my mood.
I chose chicken more often after learning about beef’s carbon footprint. As mentioned, only a small portion of her fanbase needs to do this. I suggest #NoBeefWithTaylor.
The fan offered an alternative. Swift could buy $100,000 carbon offsets for her jet, the fan said.
The fan’s Reddit theory drew mixed reactions.
One wrote, “Hard to justify bad things with somewhat good things, at the end of the day she is still ruining the environment for something that’s barely quality of life.”
I agree that meat consumption in America is out of control, and I try to cut back for the same reasons! But I don’t think Taylor’s fans should offset her carbon footprint,” another Redditor wrote, adding;
We’re not flying. Her buying carbon offsets is great! That would be great.”
The theory poster admitted it was a joke. “If you’re wondering if I wrote all that just to make the pun #NoBeefWithTaylor… the answer is maybe,” the fan wrote.
He continued, “EDIT: since the joke is flying over people’s heads, I just wanted to point out: ‘A Modest Proposal’ was a satirical essay by Jonathan Swift, in which he suggested eating babies to solve the hunger and overpopulation crisis. It’s now a joke proposal idiom.”
After Kylie Jenner was called a “climate criminal” for using private jets, the Yard Team released a report on July 29, 2022.
Yard’s report showed Jenner didn’t even make the top 10.
Taylor Swift was first, with her private jet making 170 trips and emitting 8,293.54 tons of carbon since January 2022.

Yard added, “Whilst there is no way to determine if these celebrities were on all the recorded flights, the purpose of this study is to highlight the damaging impact of private jet usage.”
Rolling Stone contacted Swift and other celebrities after the report was released.
Swift’s rep was happy to comment, unlike other celebrities’ representatives.
Swift’s private jet is often lent out, so attributing most or all of these trips to her is incorrect, the rep said. Think? Swift: culpable?
