The Hokkaido native penned a message over the nostalgic photographs. It said:

She also clothed them in kimonos for international days.

Tamaki and Leonard spent the majority of the day training their girls on the public courts in Pembroke Pines.

They also homeschooled their daughters.

Is Tamaki Osaka still refusing to communicate with her parents?

Tamaki felt that her daughters should meet their Japanese family as they grew in strength and talent.

She hadn’t spoken to them in about 15 years at this time.

As a result, when the future Grand Slam champion was just 11 years old, she and her sister traveled to Japan to visit their grandparents.

It wasn’t, however, the joyful return Tamaki had dreamed for.

Her parents were interested in the girls but mocked their homeschooling and tennis training regimen.

They considered the sport to be a pastime rather than a vocation.

Why Didn’t Her Daughters Take Their Father’s Surname?

Naomi and Mari have been more aware of their Asian origin since they were babies.

In truth, they adopted their mother’s surname rather than their father’s surname.

Osaka is a Japanese surname that, strangely, is the same as the city where they were born.

Tamaki and Leonard did this in the hope that it would be useful for enrolling in schools and renting apartments.

Their children, on the other hand, grew up in America, albeit their names would become a continuous reminder of the motherland that they would one day represent.

On multiple occasions, the former world number one acknowledged her mother for encouraging her love of the sport.

“Growing up, I witnessed my mother work extremely hard to support me and my love of play,” she says.

Naomi Osaka mentioned that her mother used to get up at four a.m. to go to work in order to provide for her daughters.

Tamaki, her mother, she said, always put others first and pushed her to accept her differences.

Her mother also worked hard to pay for flights and lodging during tournaments, according to the five-foot-eleven-inch athlete.

She would get up at four a.m. to earn the money needed to support her kids’ tennis careers.

Tamaki, who worked at an office, was responsible for financially supporting the family.

Leonard’s wife would depart for work at four a.m. Tamaki even slept in vehicles back then, according to a Netflix documentary about Osaka’s climb to success.

Naomi stated in an interview that the prospect of earning money to assist her parents in their latter years was a big motivator for her.

Is Tamaki Osaka still married to Leonard Francois?
