Who is Stephen Hawking?
Stephen Hawking was an English theoretical physicist, author, educator, cosmologist, and brilliant scientist who grew up in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. Stephen Hawking’s work on “Black Holes” and “Relativity” was well-known. Hawking was a math professor at Cambridge University who provided the equation.
Early life and Childhood
Stephen Hawking was born to parents in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England on January 8, 1942.
His father, Frank Hawking, works as a Research Biologist in a laboratory, and his mother, Isobel Hawking, works as a Medical Research Secretary.
Stephen William Hawking was his given name at birth.
Education Details
His education begins at the Byron House School in Highgate, London.
He had been physically disabled since childhood.
His classmates make fun of him at school, so he leaves and enrolls in St Albans High School for Girls.
He only attended this school for a few months.
He attended Radlett School till September 1952.
Following that, he joins St Albans School in England and completes her primary education there.
He was quite bright in school, which is why his parents wanted him to attend Westminster School, but the tuition was prohibitively expensive.
Because Stephen’s parents were not financially secure, they abandoned their decision, and Hawking continues to attend the same institution for his schooling.
He was exceptionally gifted in mathematics.
In October 1959, he receives a school scholarship and enrolls at University College, Oxford, at the age of 17.
He is very lonely in college.
He becomes interested in music and science during his second year in college.
Following that, he enrolls at Cambridge University to pursue a degree in Cosmology.
During his graduating year, he develops the Bing Bang Theory and the Steady State Theory.
He receives his Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics after completing his schooling.
He is also studying cosmology.
Professional Career
The well-known physicist began his career in 1966 by proving a singularity theorem.
This theorem covers the universe theory for the beginning of a singularity.
In 1968, he also competed in the Gravity Research Foundation competition, and his research was one of the competition’s runners-up.
He presents a theory of relativity, but everyone believes it is a useless theory; nonetheless, he was so certain in his theory that he provided convincing proof that his theory of relativity has obeyed the universe and fits in every model.
In 1969, he accepted the fellowship for Scientific Distinction.
Stephen creates the legendary “rule of black hole dynamics” in the year 1970.
He claimed that the horizon of a black hole can never be reduced.
For his invention of black holes, he collaborates with renowned physicists James M. Bardeen and Brandon Carter.
He also developed a “no-hair theorem” based on the formation of black holes.
Stephan began researching quantum gravity in 1973.
He becomes a brilliant physicist, and in 1974, he demonstrated that black holes produce radiation.
This radiation is now known as “Hawking radiation”.
He was chosen as a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS).
In 1974, he is appointed as a professor at the California Institute of Technology.
In 1975, he is appointed as a reader in gravitational physics at Cambridge University.
He is always a part of interviews for his black hole research.
After a while, Stephen is appointed as the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge.
After that, in 1981, he discovers that black holes disappear.
It will be lost indefinitely.
With Leonard Susskind and Gerard ‘t Hooft, they begin a discussion about the black hole war.
In 1982, Hawking and his friend Gary Gibbons convened a Nuffield Workshop at Cambridge University.
He has written a number of popular books about science and the universe.
Net Worth and Salary
Stephen Hawking’s Net wealth is about $25 million USD.
