Stranger Things season 4 Volume 1 is now available, and the cast members are revealing some behind-the-scenes secrets.
Montgomery has revealed that he did not travel to the United States to film his cameo scene.
On Monday, May 30, 2022, the actor took to Instagram to share a series of posts in which he revealed his cameo in Stranger Things season 4.
Due to pandemic restrictions, he was unable to travel and film scenes with his fellow cast members.
Nonetheless, the process was simplified because he was able to film his cameo in Perth, Australia, his hometown.
Montgomery first posted a photo of himself lying as others assisted him in preparing for his scene. Over the image, a grain photo effect was applied.
“Feeling extremely fortunate to have been able to shoot these scenes during the pandemic in my hometown, Perth,” he captioned the photo (in Australia).
Working with such an incredible local crew has been an absolute blessing.”
Finally, he revealed another secret: Shawn Levy, director of Free Guy and The Adam Project, was chatting with him and directing his scenes via Zoom.
Levy is one of several directors on the new season of Stranger Things.
Montgomery made two more posts with the same caption as the previous one.
In the second post, he shared clips and photos of the transformation he went through to achieve the appearance that viewers saw while watching his cameo.
His chest was covered in welts and gashes from wounds.

In addition, the Australian actor shared a photo of himself wearing a white tank top with a bloody hole near his heart.
Other images and clips revealed Montgomery’s fully finished look, which was amusing to see given the initial process but truly terrifying during the final cut — as seen in the show’s most recent episode.
Montgomery appeared in the Netflix hit show’s second season, which premiered in 2017.
Although his character, Billy, was not seen much in the second season, he became one of the major focuses of the third season.
He is possessed by Mind Flayer, turning him evil, but he returns to normal in the season finale.
Regardless, the season concludes with Billy’s death while attempting to protect his stepsister Max Hargrove (Sadie Sink) and her friends from the Mind Flayer in the Battle at Starcourt Mall.
