On June 7, 2021, the show’s actor Ben Barnes confirmed the news on Instagram, releasing some eerie behind-the-scenes photos from the Shadow and Bone production.
He cleverly revealed the release date for Shadow and Bone season 2 in the caption, writing that it would be released as soon as it is written, prepped, filmed, and edited.
“SEASON 2 of #shadowandbone will be available on @netflix… as soon as it’s written, prepped, filmed, and edited,” the caption adds.
He also added short captions to each of the four photos he shared on the occasion.
He wrote that the upcoming season will feature him with additional scars, and he posted a photo of his scarred face.
That is, of course, a spoiler!
“3, 2, 1… Smile,” he wrote in the second photo, in which he is encircled by cameras.
In the third image, he sports eye bags and challenges his fans to make them fashionable.
“Eye bags, but make them fashionable.”
The actor has undoubtedly got some weird bones.
Fans were ecstatic when the actor broke the news, and word spread like wildfire.
Within two hours, the post had received over 600,000 likes and nearly 10,000 comments.
“Honestly season two could simply be you sitting in that chair with no dialogue and I would give it four stars,” a fan said.
Another person expressed their joy by writing, “THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS BEN, I’M CRYING IN MY ROOM.”

Shadow and Bone were renewed for a second season after Netflix ordered eight one-hour episodes from writer Eric Heisserer and executive producer Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps Entertainment for Season 2.
The decision to renew the show for another season was influenced by the first season’s outstanding viewership ratings.
According to Netflix, the show was seen by more than 55 million member homes in its first 28 days, and it also reached the Top 10 list in 93 countries and No. 1 in 79.

The show’s creators also stated that the original cast members will return for the second season.
Season 2 of Shadow and Bone is expected to premiere in late 2022 or early 2023.
The show is a Netflix fantasy series created by Eric Heisserer that began its first season on April 23, 2021.
It is based on two series of books in American author Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse: her trilogy, the first of which is ‘Shadow and Bone,’ and the duology that begins with ‘Six of Crows.’
