Seth was christened at Eastwood Baptist Church.
Seth Andrews’s parents sent him to the small, church-owned Temple Christian School after his public school education clashed with the religious teachings he received at home.
Seth was later transferred to Eastwood Baptist School.
He became a student leader and enthusiastically participated in school functions as well as religious activities such as the student council and weekly church services while there. Seth also participated in the local branch of Youth for Christ, where he served as a spokesman.
Andrews set up a website and a Facebook page called The Thinking Atheist.
The goal of the website was to connect with other non-believers online and share some of the information that Seth had found useful in the hopes of making others’ journey out of superstition (religion) easier.
Now, Seth sees the website as a place where people can express their doubts and question their faith. Later, he launched and began hosting The Thinking Atheist weekly podcast.
The podcast seeks to dispel stereotypes that portray atheists as angry or religious people as stupid.
He has a YouTube channel called The Thinking Atheist.
Seth hosts a lot of self-produced atheist-related videos in an attempt to debunk Christian claims. At the same time, he gives public speeches about atheism.
Seth also discusses skeptical topics such as chakras, supernatural healing, alternative medicine, and the application of critical thinking to those topics.
Seth’s podcast shows are organized by topic rather than the number, which he claims makes it easier for listeners to find something they like.
In 2004, he watched a video of atheist Christopher Hitchens debating Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. Seth’s faith was shaken by the video.
Years later, he mustered the courage to tell his family and friends that he was an atheist in 2008. Seth decided to create an online atheist community because he couldn’t find one in his area.
Confessions of a Former Fox News Christian is his third book. The book will be released in July 2020. It discusses Seth’s previous idols, including Fox News, Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh.
The same book investigates the American conservative media, which feeds on and into public ignorance, outrage, bigotry, and fear.
In December 2012, he self-published his autobiographical book, Deconverted: A Journey From Religion To Reason.
Seth’s journey out of religion and as an atheist activist is detailed in the book. Aside from discussing his apostasy, Seth recounts his childhood in the Bible Belt and his time as a DJ for a Christian radio station.
He talks about how he started the Thinking Atheist community and why he made the website.
