As a starter for Maryland, he faced Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Louisiana Tech under the direction of head coach Joe Krivak.

In total, Zolak accumulated 3,124 career passing yards and 2,589 passing yards during his tenure in Maryland.

Similarly, Joe Mendes of the Patriots indicated that his accuracy was not an issue. In July, they also signed a contract with Zolak.

Patriots of New England

Zolak started his debut season as the third-string quarterback behind Hugh Millen and Tommy Hodson after the deal was reached.

However, in November of the next season, Zolak made his professional debut against the New Orleans Saints.

Similarly, Zolak’s first career start occurred against the Indianapolis Colts, and he went on to win his first AFC Player of the Week Award.

After a few games, he was called upon to start versus Atlanta, where Millen flourished.

Zolak eventually took over as the team’s starting quarterback, with Secules serving as his backup.

Furthermore, Zolak became a restricted free agent during the offseason, so they agreed to a three-year contract extension.

Jets of New York

After parting ways with the Patriots, the New York Jets signed Zolak to a one-year deal.

He did, however, have to fight with Ray Lucas for the backup quarterback position.

What’s more, after the Jets acquired Rick Mirer from the Green Bay Packers, all three of them contended for two positions on the squad. Zolak, unfortunately, was then released.

In the end, the Dolphins released him from the team in 2000. Following that, Zolak tried out for the Detroit Lions but was unsuccessful.

Scott finished his football career with 8 touchdowns, 7 interceptions, 1,314 yards, and a 64.8 quarterback rating.
