“What I can say is that strolling into a family gathering and not speaking to anyone while reading through your phone would never fly, and denying food (apart from a food allergy or avoidance) because you don’t like the way it looks will also never fly.”
Ryan’s brother is a pescatarian, while his sister-in-law abstains from eating pork.
Despite this, he noted that things used to go smoothly at family gatherings. He continued:
“By marrying into a different race/culture, you inevitably absorb portions of their identity,” and “most crucially, your children will, and your children will need you to assist them to navigate it.”
“It is possible (all too often) to be racist while entirely oblivious.
It is a red sign if you choose not to comprehend and educate yourself.”
