Donations Work

The Reggie DETermined to Assist Foundation, of which Jackson is the founder, has created a number of literacy lounges in Detroit schools.

Its goal is to improve the lives of low-income children in Detroit by giving them access to resources and educational opportunities that they would not otherwise have.

In 2017, the Reggie Foundation helped with the renovation and upkeep of two Detroit school libraries.

The first one was finished in March 2017 at Detroit Bow Elementary. A month later, there was a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Detroit Thurgood Marshall Elementary.

Jackson wants to spread awareness for individuals who require child literacy programs, but he is not seeking notoriety for his charity endeavors.

High School Career

Reggie completed his high school studies in 2008 at General William J. Palmer High School in Colorado Springs.

He excelled in high school basketball, and as a senior in 2007–2008, he was named the Gatorade Colorado Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year.

Career in College

Tyrese Rice and Rakim Sanders were already well-known players on the Boston College squad when Jackson enrolled there.

In Jackson’s first season, the Eagles made the NCAA Tournament, and he was deployed as an explosive weapon off the bench.

Jackson took over as the starter for the Eagles in his second season when Rice left, but they were unable to advance farther in the NCAA Tournament.

As a junior in 2010–11, he helped the Eagles averaged 18.2 points per game and advance to the National Invitation Tournament.

He was selected for the All-ACC first-team alongside Nolan Smith, Malcolm Delaney, Jordan Williams, and Kyle Singler. After his junior year, Reggie declared for the NBA draft.

Professional Career

The Oklahoma City Thunder, who had him ranked 24th overall, took Reggie in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft.

Although the skilled youngster was ranked as the Oklahoma City Thunder’s third-best point guard in the deep rankings for the 2011–12 season, he received little playing time during his rather unremarkable rookie campaign.

His effectiveness steadily improved as he saw more playing time in the following seasons.

With the Thunder, Jackson had his most successful regular season in 2013–14, when he averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and a career-high 1.1 steals per game on 80 attempts.

Despite having a strong season for the franchise in 2014–2015, Jackson was traded to the Detroit Pistons in February 2015.

Jackson adapted well to the Pistons, and for the rest of the season, he saw consistent playing time. As the first Pistons player in 17 years to record multiple triple-doubles in a single season, he created history.

On February 20, 2020, the athlete agreed to a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.

On February 26, 2022, Jackson defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 111-110 by scoring 25 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and making the game-winning layup with 4.1 seconds remaining.

Injury

When Reggie agreed to a buyout with the Clippers at the 2020 trade deadline, his stock had never been worse.

He struggled with a number of ailments in his last seasons with the Pistons, and after a rocky playoff run in 2020, he was only able to sign a minimum-wage contract with the Clippers in free agency.

On October 10, 2016, Jackson underwent platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to address left knee tendinosis and a sprained ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right thumb. The following six to eight weeks saw him declared ineligible.

After sitting out the first 21 games of the 2016–17 season, he made his season debut for the Pistons on December 4 against the Orlando Magic, scoring 18 points in 23 minutes.

Despite a crowded backcourt and poor play, the Clippers remained with Jackson. For the bulk of the season, they started him and relied on him to provide shots in critical circumstances.

Dispute: Game loss attributed to referee

The Los Angeles Clippers were just defeated by the Toronto Raptors in a close game, 103-100.

There is no doubting that the team’s loss, which dropped them to 36-36 and put them just below.500, was upsetting.

Reggie attacked Natalie Sago, the referee, saying that “Natalie performed well” and that “the best player made a difference.” Reggie is obviously insinuating that the outcome of the game was affected by the refereeing.

Players who disparage referees are frequently fined. If Reggie receives a similar punishment from the league in the future, that is yet to be determined.

Based on how the league responds to official criticism, Reggie will most likely receive a fine.

Additionally, he was previously accused of blaming the referee for the result of the game.

Being a referee is undoubtedly challenging, but there is always an opportunity for development, so maybe, future games will have better officiating.

Reggie was obviously unhappy with the Clippers’ calling against the Raptors, even though calls typically balance out over the course of a game.
