The Ball brothers went at each other from the outset, defending, scoring, and otherwise making the match entertaining.

Aside from the Balls battle, the game featured Hornets shooting guard Terry Rozier’s career-high scoring point total.

In addition, six Pelicans players scored in double figures.

Both clubs took the court without several significant players.

The Pelicans went into the game without Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and Steven Ada.

Devonte Graham, Miles Bridges, and Gordon Hayward were all out for the Hornets.

Despite being outnumbered, both teams performed an excellent job of keeping each other at bay until the last seconds of the game.

Before the Pelicans won by two points over the Hornets, they had a chance to compete in the play-in tournament.

In the first quarter, the Pelicans took the lead.

Both Lonzo and LaMelo Ball started for their respective teams and faced off against each other from the outset.

The Pelicans got the night started with a three-pointer from Naji Marshall.

While PJ Washington missed the attempt, LaMelo responded with a three-pointer of his own.

Eric Bledsoe’s three-pointer approximately 5 minutes into the first quarter gave the Pelicans a seven-point lead against the Hornets.

Willy Hernangomez blocked Lamelo’s layup attempt, and Bledsoe got a foul while driving into the hoop, giving the Pelicans three points and extending the advantage to eight points.

Following that, the Hornets blocked the Pelicans’ shots back-to-back, saving the buckets and giving the Hornets a chance to score.

On the other end, Caleb Martin hit a three-pointer for the Hornets, and PJ Washington followed with a layup to put the game within a point.

However, Brad Wanamaker tipped in an offensive rebound for the Pelicans, increasing their lead.

For the Hornets, Cody Zeller responded immediately.

He scored on consecutive possessions to keep the Pelicans within four points.

With 1:18 remaining in the game, the Hornets were down three points before Pelican’s Jaxon Hayes fouled out while attempting a layup, giving them three points.

When the clock struck 30.6 seconds, the score was 29-25.

Hayes made a layup to make it 31-25, and he also blocked Malik Monk to keep the advantage.

At the buzzer, Pelicans rookie Nickeil Alexander-Walker scores a three-pointer from roughly 65 feet away to make the score 34-25.

In the second quarter, the Hornets make a comeback.

After Nickeil’s three-pointer, the Pelicans led the Hornets by 11 points in the first quarter.

LaMelo Ball scored a jumper to reduce the Pelicans’ advantage by half early in the second quarter.

LaMelo hits another after being blocked, bringing the game to within five points, 36-31, with 9:34 left in the quarter.

Lamelo went off again, this time sinking a three-pointer from behind the arc.

After missing a three-pointer, Terry Rozier hits a layup to trim the Pelicans’ advantage to one point.

Both sides traded shots, with the Hornets trailing the Pelicans for more over midway of the second quarter.

The Hornets regained the lead with 5:16 remaining, but Kira Lewis Jr. quickly reclaimed it with a layup.

Following that, the Hornets found their stride, grabbing a two-point lead with 4:43 remaining in the quarter.

Rozier’s three-pointer extended the advantage. On Caleb’s pass, he hits another three-pointer.

With 3:36 remaining in the second quarter, the Hornets led by nine points.

They didn’t stop there, as Lamelo drove into the basket for a layup, giving them 11 points.

Finally, Naji Marshall scored for the Pelicans, but LaMelo responded with a layup to keep the lead.

They were at 51-60 with a minute left in the half and the Hornets leading.

As the shot time expired, PJ Washington made a three-pointer to cut the margin in half.

Terry almost gives the Pelicans another chance to trim the advantage, but Biyombo blocks Bledsoe, making up for his mistake.

As a result, the quarter concluded with the Hornets leading by ten points, 57-67.

The Pelicans attempted a comeback.

The Pelicans’ Bledsoe opened the third quarter with a three-pointer, but the Hornets responded with a 5-0 run highlighted by Terry’s three-pointer and PJ’s bucket.

LaMelo responded after Bledsoe’s bucket with a layup, and his older brother Lonzo responded with a three-pointer.

Lonzo follows with another three-pointer, trimming the lead to four points.

LaMelo also responded by scoring back-to-back baskets.

Halfway through the second quarter, the score was 79-80.

The Hornets, on the other hand, did not let the Pelicans seize the lead throughout the quarter.

They trailed the Pelicans by as many as four points in the first quarter.

Every bucket the Pelicans made was met with a response by the Hornets.

Terry Rozier’s strong shooting helped the Hornets maintain their lead.

He also scored a three-pointer with 3.7 seconds left in the quarter to bring the game to a close.

The Pelicans worked hard to win.

The Pelicans were behind by six points entering the fourth quarter and were desperate for baskets.

They did it after a minute and a half, scoring the first bucket of the quarter.

With his first bucket of the night, Wes Iwnundu opened the quarter.

Soon after, James Johnson made a three-pointer as the shot clock expired, cutting the margin to two points.

After around six minutes of play in the fourth, the Pelicans took the lead for the first time in the half.

Lonzo Ball then made a three-pointer to make the score 104-100 halfway through the fourth quarter.

The Hornets were now trailing the Pelicans until LaMelo’s alley-oop to PJ knotted the game 105-105 with around three minutes remaining.

Both teams continued to score back and forth, until Hayes scored on Lonzo’s pass, giving the Pelicans a two-point advantage.

With 10.5 seconds remaining in the quarter, the Pelicans built a five-point lead.

Terry hit a three-pointer in the final seconds of the game, but it was too late as the Pelicans won 112-107.

The Ball brothers fight.

For the second time this season, LaMelo Ball and Lonzo Ball squared off.

LaMelo outscored Lonzo and won the first match, but things were different this time.

In this game, LaMelo Ball outscored his older brother Lonzo Ball by 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Lonzo provided 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists.

However, Lonzo took the final victory as the Pelicans overcame the Hornets.

The Brothers fought each other like they did when they were kids.

After his older brother Lonzo grabbed a rebound, LaMelo attempted to swipe the ball.

He dived to steal the ball from Lonzo but was called for a foul.

They didn’t guard each other for the majority of the game, but they did everything they could for their side.

Both of them made crucial plays to keep their teams in the game.

Their performances did not disappoint, as they both scored well.

Rozier’s career-high points and the Pelicans’ double-digit scoring

Terry Rozier of the Hornets provided another highlight of the game with his career-high 43 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds.

In 42 minutes, he scored 43 points on 16-of-36 shooting, including seven 3-pointers.

Aside from Terry, PJ Washington had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, as well as 2 assists.

Cody Zeller led Charlotte’s bench with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Six Pelicans players, on the other hand, scored in double figures.

Starting with Eric Bledsoe, who led the Pelicans with a double-double of 24 points and 11 assists and 4 assists.

James Johnson came in second with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Naji Marshall followed with 13 points, two assists, and a rebound.

Lonzo Ball finished with 12 points, three rebounds, and six assists.

Similarly, Jaxson Hayes led the Pelicans’ bench with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker followed with 13 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds.

The Pelicans’ tenacity.

Despite seizing the lead in the first quarter, the Pelicans faltered in the second and third quarters, falling behind by as many as 12 points.

But they held on and gave the Hornets a tough fight, eventually winning in the fourth quarter.

The Pelicans’ fourth victory in the last six games.

“One thing I’ve said about this team is that we give ourselves a shot to win every game,” Bledsoe said. “We’re attempting to learn from each game.”

In the absence of Zion Williamson, who is out indefinitely due to injury, Bledsoe performed admirably for the team.

“We persisted – we persisted,” said Pelicans coach Stan Van Gundy.

The difference in the game, according to Rozier, was the Pelicans’ defense in the second half.

“They just increased their pressure, they were keying in on me, every time I came off a down screen or a ball screen, they were up on me,” Rozier explained.

“That’s who I’m going to see for the rest of the season and the play-in.”

Hayes scored New Orleans’ final four points to secure the victory, and the second-year player continues to contribute to the squad.

“One thing about Jax is that he may foul a little bit, but he never gives up on a play,” said Bledsoe. “He has a lot of energy.”

“He’s starting to string together good games,” Van Gundy remarked.

“You got to give Hayes a ton of credit, that’s a shot blocker for you,” Hornets coach James Borrego said.

He dominated the fourth quarter with his presence, blocked shots, and influence on a lot of our stuff in the paint.”
