More often than not, an NBA legend’s son wants to build his own way in the game and not spend his entire career in his father’s shadow. However, for Peja Stojakovic’s son Andrej, comparisons to his famed father are unavoidable and, more significantly, unimportant.

Like his father, he is successful, but in his own unique manner

Andrej is currently excelling as a scorer at Jesuit High School in Sacramento.

He averaged an astounding 25.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last season.

The 18-year-old made waves in the Adidas 3SSB circuit this summer, averaging 20 points and 7 rebounds each game for the Compton Magic.

Andrej might become one of the country’s brightest NBA talents if he continues to improve.

And even now, he’s embracing his father’s shadow. Andrej, on the other hand, stated that while he is following his father’s “blueprint” to success, he still wants to be acknowledged for his own skill set.

“I know some men simply don’t want to be compared to their fathers who played in the NBA,” Andrej told Sports Illustrated.

“However, I’d like to have as successful an NBA career as my father did.” Yes, I want it on my own, but I’ll surely follow his pattern to get it done.”

Peja was a major member of the greatest Sacramento Kings team ever assembled.

Unfortunately, Andrej was too young at the time, and he just vaguely remembers his father’s triumphs.

Instead of being upset about it, the child is embracing it as fuel to create his own name in the game.

“I don’t recall much of it…

I wish I could experience it now because I could embrace it so much more now that I understand it so well.

But that’s what I mean by forging my own path; now I can try to make my own memories,” the young Stojakovic remarked.

Taking notes from Peja

The Stojakovic father and son were recently sighted having a shootaround.

Peja can be seen in the video hitting threes from the corner and offering Andrej some shooting advice.

While most of us would believe that the two-time NBA three-point shootout champion has been training his son to be a lethal shooter as well, Andrej claims that it is the other way around.

Andrej stated of Peja, “He wants me to add aspects to my game that he wasn’t as successful with.”

“It’s amazing to have my father, a guy who’s been to the top, to be able to offer me specifics about the best method to attain my ultimate goal every day.

” It’s a huge benefit for me, therefore I embrace it.”

Peja, on the other hand, sounded like any other proud parent while discussing his son’s future.

“I believe it’s logical to believe that players his age improve,” Peja stated. “If he [Andrej] continues to work and improve, as well as mature, better basketball is ahead of him.”

Andrej is only 18 years old, so he has a long way to go. But, by all appearances, he’s on the right track.
