Olivia Namath is one of former New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath’s two daughters. Olivia Namath was the result of his divorce from Deborah “Tatiana” Mays. While Joe had a successful football career, his personal life was not all sunshine and beaches.

Olivia Namath’s Childhood and Ancestry

Olivia Namath was born on the 11th of December, 1990.

Rose Namath, her grandma, gave her her name.

Her paternal grandparents were Catholics of Hungarian heritage, Rose (née Juhász) and János “John” Andrew Namath, a steelworker.

Olivia’s Hungarian-born great-grandpa, András “Andrew” Németh, known as “A.J.” to his family, arrived at Ellis Island in 1911 on the vessel Pannonia and worked in the coal and steel sectors of the Pittsburgh area.

Olivia’s maternal ancestors, the Mays, were a prosperous family in Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

Olivia Namath’s Parents’ Marital Status

Joe and Deborah Lynne Mays, Olivia Namath’s parents, married on November 7, 1984.

Deborah’s friend’s property in Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hosted the low-key wedding.

They eventually met and began dating the next day.

Joe and Mays welcomed their first child, a daughter named Jessica Namath, about a year into their marriage.

Olivia Namath’s Parents’ Divorce After Years of Marriage

Joe and Mays’ relationship began to deteriorate after they had two daughters.

Deborah eventually left Joe’s residence in September 1998 and began living in California.

Brian Novack, a surgeon, fell in love with her there.

Mays allegedly stated that she was becoming bored with Olivia’s father and that she had developed an affection for Novack.

Olivia’s original parents divorced in 2000, and her father was awarded sole custody of her and her sister.

She was 16 years old at the time. Natalia was said to be living with Mays in California at the time for an unexplained reason.

She was still in high school in Florida at the time.

Olivia’s father, Joe, told the Palm Beach Post that there are some amazing things in life, and Natalia’s birth was one of them.

Olivia was arrested for illegal drug possession

Olivia was stopped for speeding in West Palm Beach three years after the birth of her first child, in 2010.

An officer later discovered an open bottle of rum and marijuana in her vehicle.

Olivia, who was 19 at the time, was driving in a silver Mercedes when police pulled her over, according to the Palm Beach Post.

According to the Post, an arresting officer discovered half a pound of marijuana after investigating the car.

Olivia denied knowing anything about the substances.

Olivia and her sister put their parents’ patience to the test

In a 2005 interview with the New York Times, Joe Namath stated that raising his daughters between the ages of 12 and 17 was the most difficult.

The former footballer claimed that the years 12 to 17 were difficult.

He recalled the incidents and stated that somewhere along the way, it became almost as if they were not being realistic or rational.

He still thought the moments were fine because the main thing was learning to be patient and to listen rather than just hear.

Olivia’s father added that he understood those moments wouldn’t have mattered during those years.

Her mother assisted her father in becoming sober

According to a 2015 ESPN profile of Joe Namath, his wife Tatiana Mays was instrumental in helping him get sober in 1987.

Olivia’s father claims Mays gave him an ultimatum, threatening to break up their family if he didn’t stop drinking.

Joe eventually quit, but he relapsed around the time of his divorce in 2003, most notably during Monday Night Football that same year.

What Is Olivia Namath Doing Right Now?

Olivia, unlike Jessica, does not appear frequently with her father Joe Namath.

However, this does not imply that she has become estranged from her father.

The former Super Bowl champion has appeared alongside Olivia and her husband, Edwin at the latter’s art exhibition on several occasions.
