Nate Burleson is a former American football player who now works as a commentator. Nate Burleson was a professional football player with the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions, and Cleveland Browns, among others.

Early Life, and Family

Nate Burleson was born on August 19, 1981, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to proud parents Alvin and Valerie Lynn Burleson.

Alvin Burleson, his father, is a former American gridiron football player.

The Burleson family migrated to the United States from Canada after his father’s USFL career.

Nate also has three siblings.

Alvin Burleson Jr., his older brother, played college football for Western Illinois University and the University of Washington.

Similarly, Nate’s second older brother, Kevin Burleson, was a National Basketball Association player (NBA).

Vikings (Minnesota)

Burleson’s professional career took off after the Minnesota Vikings selected him as the 71st overall choice in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

During his rookie season, Nate exemplified fair play. His numbers, on the other hand, were not up to par with his abilities.

After Viking’s official receiver Randy Moss was injured during the 2004 season, the team considered him as a threat due to his previous year’s performance.

Viking’s only option was Burleson, so they went along with it.

For his communications with the media, the Detroit Lions-Detroit Sports Broadcasters Association/Pro Football Writers Association named Nate the recipient of the Media-Friendly “Good Guy Award” in 2011.

Nate fractured his forearm in two places on September 24th, 2013, in a single-car accident on Interstate 696 westbound near Drake Road in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

Nate complained of arm pain and was taken to a local hospital by police for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

He had to go under the knife. Nate reportedly lost control of his vehicle while attempting to prevent a pizza from falling off a seat in his automobile.

Nate also missed the final ten games of the 2013 season due to his injury.

The club presented him with the Ed Block Courage Award upon his return. The Detroit Lions released him on February 13th, 2014.

Burleson had 19 receptions for the 2013 season prior to his accident, including six receptions for 119 yards in a 27-20 win versus Washington, his most productive game.

Browns of Cleveland

On April 6th, 2014, Nate signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns.

However, he was released by the Browns on February 13th, 2014, due to a chronic hamstring injury, and he only appeared in one preseason game.

During the preseason finale, he caught one pass on two targets for 27 yards.

Career in Broadcasting

He couldn’t say goodbye to his professional football career in 2014, but he couldn’t say goodbye to his football romance. As a result, he made his way to the NFL Network, where he began working as an analyst.

Nate was a member of the Detroit Lions preseason broadcast team in 2015, serving as a color commentator or expert analyst for the Detroit Lions Television Network.
