Educational history

Mykayla Skinner was a freshman at Higley High School in 2011.

She did, however, begin her homeschooling in 2012.

Later, in November 2014, Skinner negotiated with The University of Utah to become a collegiate gymnast starting in 2015.

Night 1

Skinner began the night with the vault.

She struggled with her transitions and fell short on handstands, earning a 13.650 on the uneven bars.

On the beam, Mykayla achieved a respectable score of 14.350.

She had perfected her back-handspring tuck full sequence at this point, and she also executed a tiny hop on her double tuck dismount.

She received a meager 6.2 for her work on the floor and a 14.350 overall rating.

Her Moors (double-double layout), Silvas (double-double tuck), layouts 3/2 through 5/2, and a tucked full-in all demonstrated her high degree of difficulty.

She finished the evening in eighth place overall with a score of 57.500.

Night 2

Skinner had the same form on the uneven bars and handstand troubles as in Night 1 as well.

So, with a score of 13.700 and a final score of 27.350, she came in 16th.

Mykayla encountered a slight wobble on her trademark back-handspring tuck full series while having superior contacts to raise her start value to a 6.0.

With a score of 14.350 once more, just like she did on night 1, and a total of 28.700, she was paired with Raisman in the seventh spot.

On the floor event, Skinner and Key were third, behind Raisman and Biles.

In comparison to her past performances, she had a strong 6.5 credited start and a 14.800 final score for a total of 29.150.

Skinner earned a 14.950 on her double-twisting Yurchenko and a 15.350 on her Cheng vault.

She finished behind Biles in second place with a total score of 30.125 and an average vault score of 15.150.

Mykayla Skinner received an invitation to the 2015 Worlds Selection Camp after being selected for the Senior National Team in September 2015.

She then had another camp scheduled for the beginning of October.

Then, on October 8, Skinner was chosen as the U.S. team’s backup for the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

The 2016 year

At the 2016 U.S. National Championships, Skinner took home a silver medal on vault and a bronze medal on floor exercise, placing tenth overall.

At the U.S. National Championships, Skinner finished her senior year with a total of 9 medals.

She finished fourth in the all-around at the US Olympic Trials after that.

Finally, Skinner was given a chance to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in place of the team, Ashton Locklear, and Ragan Smith.

In November 2014, Skinner initially consented to a National Letter of Intent with the University of Utah and the Utah Red Rocks program.

Later, she put off enrolling at Utah for a year so she could concentrate on winning the 2016 Olympics.

After winning 43 events in all as a freshman, Skinner won the Pac-12 championship in the individual all-around, vault, and floor exercise.

Skinner finished behind Florida’s Alex McMurtry in the individual all-around with a score of 39.6125 in the NCAA Championship.

She placed fifth on the vault and ninth on the balancing beam in the same competition.

Together with Ashleigh Gnat of LSU, she won the title of co-national champion in the floor exercise with a score of 9.9625.

After that, she coached Utah to fifth place in the team competition.

In the 2017–2018 season,

Skinner won every one of the 54 routines she competed in, helping Utah finish second at the PAC-12 Championships.

She shared first place in the all-around with UCLA’s Kyla Ross in the individual competitions.

She also placed first with UCLA’s Katelyn Ohashi and Stanford’s Elizabeth Price in the floor exercise.

In addition to that, MyaKyla finished second in the all-around in the 2018 NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships to Oklahoma’s Maggie Nichols.

Alongside Oklahoma’s Brenna Dowell and Florida’s Alex McMurtry, she took first place in the vault competition.

Yr. 2018–2019

Skinner finished second in both the team finals and the all-around at the PAC-12 Championships.

She won gold and vaulted, nevertheless, after recording her third perfect 10 of her career in the floor exercise.

Though she fell on the uneven bars at her Regional Finals, Skinner broke a record.

Skinner participated in every event on the opening night at the 2019 U.S. National Championships.

She finished the night off by tying for ninth place with Grace McCallum.

She finished ninth in the all-around on her second day of competition, taking home bronze on vault in second place to Simone Biles and Jade Carey.

Skinner made it to the National Team despite falling off the balancing beam during her performance.

In September, Skinner participated in the US World Championships trials and finished fourth behind Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, and Kara Eaker.

On bars and beam the following day, she finished fourth behind Biles, Eaker, and Morgan Hurd.

MyKayla Skinner was chosen by the public to travel to Stuttgart for the 2019 World Championships together with Biles, Lee, Eaker, Jade Carey, and Grace McCallum.

She was the first member of the team to win the gold medal after her podium training with the US women.

The 2020 Calendar

Along with Emily Lee, Lilly Lippeatt, and Faith Torrez, Skinner was picked for the International Gymnix event in Montreal in March.

She finished behind Lee in the individual all-around but helped the US team win the gold.
