Momona Tamada has joined the cast of The Spiderwick Chronicles, a new Disney+ live-action series. On Thursday, November 9, 2022, Deadline was the first to report this casting news.

Alyvia Alyn Lind, an American actress, was also named as another child actress who would be joining the show.

Lyon Daniels, Christian Slater, Mychala Lee, Joy Bryant, and Noah Cottrell are also cast members.

Tamada’s character in The Spiderwick Chronicles will be Emiko, a local teenager from Henson.

According to Deadline, her character attends outpatient group therapy at the Meskwaki Psychiatric Hospital.

Emiko is also diagnosed as a pathological liar, making it difficult to tell whether she is lying or telling the truth.

However, as a townie, she is aware of the mysterious goings-on at the Spiderwick Estate and is intrigued by its newest resident, Jared Grace, played by Daniels.

The Spiderwick Chronicles is based on the renowned series of bestselling books written by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black.

It’s a “contemporary American gothic coming-of-age story about kids and families dealing with mental health issues, among other pertinent topics.”

“Twin brothers Jared (Daniels) and Simon (Cottrell) Grace, along with their sister Mallory, find themselves drawn into an alternate, fantastical world after leaving New York and moving to Michigan and into their run-down ancestral home—The Spiderwick Estate—with their mother.”

Aside from that, the outlet revealed that the show, a modern coming-of-age story mixed with fantasy adventure, will be produced by 20th Television and Paramount Television Studios, the latter of which is owned by The Walt Disney Company.

The first two episodes will be directed by Kat Coiro, with Aron Eli Coleite from Locke & Key serving as showrunner.

Returning to Tamada, the 16-year-old actress announced the casting news on her Instagram account.
