Miles was selected by the San Diego Padres in the seventh round of the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft.

He pitched as a reliever for the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2010, a Class-A Minor League Baseball team affiliated with the San Diego Padres in the Midwest League.
