Who is Mark McEwen?

Mark McEwen is a well-known American television and radio personality. Mark McEwen spent 16 years on the CBS network Morning show. Mark is also well-known for his time as the host of A&E’s Live by Request. Mark is currently a substitute teacher at Oviedo High School and the host of All Things Men on the Black News Channel.

Early Life and Childhood

Mark McEwen was born in the United States on September 16, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas. He is currently 67 years old. Every year on September 16th, Mark celebrates his birthday.

Dolores, Mark’s mother, retired as a bank vice president after raising six children.

After three years, the McEwens relocated once more, this time to Montgomery, Alabama, and finally to Crownsville, Maryland.

Mark’s mother died of heart disease, and he and his sister both had strokes. Kirk McEwen, his brother, works at 98 Rock-WIYY in Baltimore.

Education Details

Mark McEwen attended Arundel High School in Gambrills, Maryland, and then the University of Maryland, where he stayed for three and a half years.

Mark worked at the college radio station WMUC while at Maryland. Following his college years, Mark relocated to Detroit and worked as a rock-and-roll DJ at WWWW-W4.

Detroit’s After that, he worked at (WLUP-The Loop) in Chicago, where he enrolled in Second City and began doing standup comedy.

Professional Career

He began working for CBS in 1987 with The Morning Program and later with CBS This Morning, which replaced the original program.

Mark is now a substitute teacher at Oviedo High School and the host of All Things Men on the Black News Channel.

Mark suffered a stroke in 2005, which ended his career as a news anchor for WKMG-TV, the CBS affiliate in Orlando. Following the stroke, he had to relearn how to walk and talk, and the former right-hander now uses his left hand for most tasks.

Mark also told an audience of about 50 people that his doctors did not believe he would survive because of the length of time he had been suffering from symptoms.

Mark was not treated within the first few critical hours.

Because Mark’s stroke was so severe, doctors advised his wife to contact the rest of his family in preparation for his death. Mark recalls waking up to the faces of family and friends after being in a coma for two days.

Even though he no longer shows signs of having had a stroke, his right arm still shakes. Mark attributed his ability to walk, talk, and swallow to the months of therapy he received.

He has been active in raising stroke awareness since his recovery.

Mark has published two books about his experience and was named an ambassador for the American Heart Association’s Power to End Stroke campaign in 2009.
