High School Career Initiation
Derrickson started playing basketball at Paul VI Catholic High School in Virginia, where he stayed for three years as a member of the high school squad.
He was nominated to the All-Met Team as a junior after averaging 11.8 points per game and leading the Panthers to two Washington Catholic Athletic Conference titles.
Later, he was sent to the Brewster Academy, where he was ranked as the No. 81 overall prospect in his class by Rival.com.
He then enrolled in Georgetown College in October of 2013.
Career in College
Marcus averaged 8.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game during his sophomore year, up from 7.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game during his freshman year.
He was also named to the Second Team All-Big East during his freshman year. It was the pinnacle of his professional life.

On September 20, 2018, he signed a training camp contract with the Warriors after a strong preseason performance.
The State Warriors turned their deal with its NBA G League club, the Santa Cruz Warriors, into a two-way contract on October 13.
Marcus then made his G League debut against the Northern Arizona Suns, scoring 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, grabbing three rebounds, and dishing out three assists in a 118-108 victory.
Warriors of Golden State
Similarly, his first NBA game was a 116-100 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on November 10, 2018, in which he scored two points and grabbed one rebound in six minutes.
