Herro came off the bench for the majority of the regular season, averaging 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game in 66 games.

He also made teams pay from behind the 3-point line, hitting 2.7 attempts per game.

More importantly, he played a key role in Miami securing the No. 1 seed in the conference with a 53-29 record.

Herro was selected Sixth Man of the Year in recognition of his contributions to the Heat’s success.

Running out of time

The Heat was among the favorites to win the conference heading into the 2022 playoffs.

Herro, on the other hand, was a shell of his former self, averaging only 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in his third postseason appearance.

Miami will try to win the championship again this season. It remains to be seen, though, whether the team will do so with Herro as the primary starter.
