Kevin Mimms Is A Chicago Native
Kevin Mimms was born on July 5, 1990.
He grew up in Chicago. In an interview with Chicago Tribune, Mimms said he hails from the South Side region, and Hyde Park was his favorite location growing up.
His parents pushed him to pursue acting after recognizing his passion for the business.
Kevin’s folks were foster kids and they had a terrible childhood.
Kevin Mimms Used To Be A DJ
Kevin Mimms began acting very young; it was his father who drove him into the industry, while his mother and grandmother instilled in him a passion for theater.
The Chicago native started taking part in acting activities in elementary school.
One of his earliest acting roles was in Romeo and Juliet’s theatrical production when he portrayed Lord Capulet’s character.
Following that, he had a strong interest in the profession.
Mimms’ career in acting started at Chicago Academy for arts, where he studied Theatre and graduated in 2008.
He then enrolled at Webster University (Conservatory of Theatre Arts), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting.
Kevin worked as DJ during his undergraduate years in addition to performing and commercials.
He was also chosen to open for Girl Talk in a school event.
Unfortunately, for some reason, this couldn’t happen.
Mimms, nevertheless, still had an opportunity to open for musicians Rockwell Knuckles and Tef Poe.
Miles may have continued with his DJ-ing act after leaving college, considering the fact that his Myspace site still labels him as an actor/DJ.
Kevin Mimms Slept In A Car During The Early Days Of His Career
Getting into Hollywood isn’t that easy for all.
And Mimms has a battle tale of his own on how he cracked into the media sector.
After, he got a one-way ticket to L.A. with the aim of commencing his acting career.
His mother went along and helped him buy a used Mustang automobile before departing the next day.
Things quickly started to get problematic for Kevin.
With no place under his budget, he had to sleep in the car for a week.
Unfortunately, even after locating a place to stay, his financial condition was anything from stable.
With bills and expenditures building up, he turned to do odd jobs to earn a living.
In the meantime, he continued submitting applications for acting gigs.
After a while, he started landing commercial assignments.
All of them are without an agency.
It, however, was not until the State Farm that he started to garner attention.
In the aftermath of his performance on State Farm, he got many opportunities to meet and collaborate with celebrities such as Drake and Aaron Rodgers.
Kevin Mimms Had His Own Startup
Back in the day, Mimms had founded his own firm.
In 2011, while still in college, he started the company Animal House Underground.
It started as a college party house, as a method to introduce city-style partying to universities.
Animal House Underground which was near Webster University, would attract students from numerous adjacent institutions.
It later started to serve students from St. Louis whilst operating from Webster and Washington university campuses.
As for the moment, it is unknown whether Mimms’ college day hustle is still operational.
How Mimms Got Into State Farm
While attempting to get the big break, Kevin got an invitation to audition for a state agriculture commercial.
He has been answering phones for the company for ten years.
All the candidates appearing for the audition wore red polo and Khakis.
Mimms was the only one dressed in a white shirt, gray blazer, and jeans. He was with the LA group.
Although the CMO for State farm, Rand Harbert did not see him as his Jake, his wife advised him after seeing Kevin’s call sheet.
His Other Commercials
Apart from State Farm, Mimms also has an impressive commercial profile.
He has appeared in several other ads. The most recognizable is that in Hyundai adverts.
eBay Fashion – alongside Grown-ish star Yara Shahidi – Ford Escape, Taco Bell National Taco Day, Daytona 500 Super Bowl 2017, Bose Sound Link Color, and N.F.L. Fantasy Football are among his previous commercial appearances.
He has also appeared in commercials for McDonald’s Spicy Creations, and T-Mobile Jump! On-Demand, Slim Jim, 5 Hour Energy, Jersey Mike’s, Straight Talk Wireless, Henry’s Hard Sparkling Water, Pepsi Color Lights, Panera Bread Mac & Cheese, and others.

Miles has appeared in a number of major TV shows in addition to commercials.
The 31-year-old has been in S.W.A.T. and Criminal Minds episodes.
He has also been in series such as Underdogs and the film Emmanuel and Me.
Mimms has also appeared in American Typecast, Soda Jerks, Lap Dance, The Last Pick, Innocent, and The Tragedy of Mother and Son.
Miles had a brief role in the film Jake Squared in 2013, long before he became Jake (the film credited him as Kevin Mimms’, hence the Miss vs Miles misunderstanding).
Miles, on the other hand, played “Cool Party Guy,” rather than Jake.
Kevin played a patron of a lap dance club in Lap Dance the next year, in 2014.
What Is Kevin Miles Up To These Days?
Kevin currently does not reside in Chicago, having relocated to Los Angeles after graduating from high school to pursue his acting career.
He has, however, stated that he still misses the city, particularly the culture and food of the neighborhood in which he grew up.

Mimms is quite private about his dating life.
Nonetheless, he had a girlfriend called Emily Gaither at one point.
Both apparently met at Webster University, where Gaither was also a Costume Design student.
Kevin and his girlfriend Emily Gaither have also appeared in a number of Emily’s YouTube videos.
Gaither and Mimms made their public debut in 2017 at the premiere of Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry in Hollywood. They, on the other hand, never addressed the reports of their dating.
Also, Kevin has yet to reveal anything about his romantic feelings on his social media accounts.
