Ken Ham was born on October 20, 1951, he was born in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Ken is seventy years old.

In Cairns, Queensland, he was born to his father, Mervyn, and mother. Mervyn was a Christian schoolteacher. He was a principal in several schools throughout Queensland.

Education Details

Ken Ham earned a Diploma in Education from the University of Queensland. Ken then enrolled at the Queensland Institute of Technology to pursue his bachelor’s degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology).

While in college, he was influenced by John C. Whitcomb and Henry M. Morris’ 1961 book The Genesis Flood. After graduating in 1975, Ken began teaching science at a high school in Dalby, Queensland.

Professional Career

On July 7, 2016, Ark Encounter, a Christian religious and Young Earth creationist theme park, opened in Grant County, Kentucky.

The ark is 510 feet (155 meters) long, 85 feet (26 meters) wide, and 51 feet (16 meters) tall. Its focal point is a large representation of Noah’s Ark based on the Genesis flood story found in the Bible.

The ark is run by Answers in Genesis (AiG), a young-Earth creationist (YEC) organization. The Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, which is 45 miles (70 kilometers) away, is run by the same organization.

The theme park’s main goal is to promote pseudoscientific young-Earth creationist beliefs about the age of the universe, the age of the Earth, and the coexistence of humans and non-avian dinosaurs.

In February 2014, he debated Bill Nye, an American science educator and engineer, on whether young-Earth creationism is a viable model of origins in the modern scientific era.

Following the debate, critics expressed concern that it gave the appearance of scientific legitimacy to creationism while also stimulating Ken’s fundraising.

Bil, also known as “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” stated that he was given the opportunity to “expose the well-intentioned Ken and the support he receives from his followers as being bad for Kentucky, bad for science education, bad for the United States, and thus bad for humankind.”

Ken, on the other hand, stated that the debate’s publicity aided in the development of the Ark Encounter theme park. The Ark Encounter had been put on hold due to a lack of funds.

It officially opened on July 7, 2016. The date (7/7) was chosen to correspond with Genesis 7:7, which describes Noah entering the ark. The next day, Bill went to Ark Encounter and had an informal debate with Ken.

The Creation Museum is a 75,000-square-foot (7,000-square-meter) structure that cost US$27 million.

They built the Museum to promote a pseudoscientific, young-Earth creationist (YEC) explanation of the origin of the universe based on a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation story in the Bible.

They constructed the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, and a Christian creation apologetics organization called Answers in Genesis (AiG) operates the museum, which opened on May 28, 2007.

Ken believes in biblical literalism, accepting the Book of Genesis creation story as historical fact and believing that both the universe and the Earth came into existence around 6,000 years ago.

This contradicts the scientific consensus that the Earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old and the universe is approximately 13.8 billion years old.
