Professional Career

Anderson initially agreed to join the Maryland Terrapins in 2011 on a verbal basis. Gary Williams’ decision to join Maryland was reversed after his retirement.

On August 1, 2015, Justin signed a deal with the Mavericks and began training with the team. On October 28, he made his NBA debut, scoring two points and one rebound in a win over the Phoenix Suns.

On November 10, Anderson scored 11 points in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Unfortunately, the Mavericks were defeated by a score of 120-105.

In a loss to the San Antonio Spurs, he set a new season-high with 13 points.

Following that, he recorded his first double-double in the NBA. In a win over the Memphis Grizzlies, he had 19 points and 10 rebounds.

During his first season, he played for the Dallas Mavericks’ D-league affiliate, the Texas Legends.

Justin returned to the Mavericks for the 2016 NBA Summer League. He demonstrated his ability by appearing in five games and averaging 16.0 points, 2.6 assists, and 7 rebounds per game.

Three days later, in a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, he put up another 19-point outburst.

For the fourth game in the 2016-17 season, Justin equaled his career-high of 19 points. He contributed to the Sixers’ victory over his previous team, the Dallas Mavericks, with that performance.

Justin set a career-high with 26 points in the season finale on April 12, 2017. Despite his outstanding performance, the Sixers were defeated by the Knicks to end the season.

Following that, he had a difficult 2017/18 season.

Despite this, he set a new season-high with 25 points against the Milwaukee Bucks in April 2018. He also had six rebounds to go along with his 25 points.

Hawks of Atlanta

Anderson was traded to the Atlanta Hawks on July 25, 2018, after two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers.

He made his debut with the club soon after and continued to perform at a high level. He, on the other hand, failed to impress his coaching team.

On March 31, he had his greatest game in a Hawks uniform, scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks. That was his third game versus the Milwaukee Bucks in which he scored 18 points or more.

Atlanta declined to renew Anderson’s contract after the season ended. He departed the club as an unrestricted free agent on June 29.

905 Raptors

Justin signed a training camp contract with the Washington Wizards after leaving the Hawks. After only four preseason games, he was waived by Washington.

Raptors 905 signed Anderson off waivers on January 15, 2019. He spent one season with the Raptors before departing in January 2020.

Brooklyn Nets

Anderson’s first stint with the Nets began on January 6, 2019, when he signed a 10-day contract. However, after ten days with the Nets, he was dismissed.

On July 18, 2020, the Brooklyn Nets announced Anderson’s contract extension for the remainder of the season.

Long Island Nets

In January 2020, the Long Island Nets acquired Anderson from the Toronto Raptors in a trade involving Henry Ellenson.
