During the pandemic, Josh Gates lost 30 pounds

Josh Gates has climbed the world’s highest mountains, trekked through its most dense jungles, and descended into its deepest caves.

Prior to the pandemic, Gates spent the majority of his year abroad filming the popular Discovery Channel show Expedition Unknown.

It was a way of life that sharpened the 43-year-old explorer’s abilities to sleep on airport floors and eat meals on the road.

As a result, there was a lack of regular exercise and a healthy diet, according to Gates, making living a healthy lifestyle impossible.

However, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the explorer has altered his behavior, losing more than 30 pounds while unwittingly documenting the consequences onscreen.

“I spent a few weeks at home doing nothing and it kind of hit me…

“I have this time, and it is critical that I use it,” Gates told Forbes.

During the pandemic, he addressed how many people take different paths.

Some people choose to stuff their faces with food, while others choose to be goal-oriented, and he was the latter.

“The pandemic was an opportunity for me to create a new routine,” Gates continued.
