Career

Days of the Amateur

JaVale attended two high schools in Michigan from the time he was in elementary school.

In his early years, JaVale attended Detroit Country Day School and Providence Christian School before transferring to Hales Franciscan.

On his high school team, he was used as a small forward and a power forward.

Later, he enrolled at the University of Nevada to pursue his academic education, where he played basketball for three years.

He started and showed off his excellent basketball skills in his second season, scoring 14.3 points and grabbing 7.3 rebounds.

JaVale had a career-high six rebounds and appeared in 33 games during his freshman season.

Years in the NBA

JaVale began his NBA career with the Washington Wizards, when he was drafted 18th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft and signed a two-year contract worth $2.4 million.

McGee was being investigated for having a gun in the wizards’ locker room, but he blamed his teammates for the incident.

JaVale also spent five seasons with the Wizards, during which time he competed in the NBA Slam Dunk Contests in 2011 and used three balls at once.

After much controversy and some record-breaking performances, he left the Wizards in 2012 and was eventually moved to the Denver Nuggets.
