Basketball Career
Jarred began his professional career on June 21, 2018, when the Orlando Magic selected him as the 41st overall choice in the 2018 NBA Draft.
However, he was moved to the Denver Nuggets on the same day.
After that, Jarred played for the Nuggets for an additional 1.5 seasons, alternating between their G-league affiliate team and the starting lineup.
Vanderbilt had 26 appearances during that span, playing 4.2 minutes per game and averaging 1.3 points and 1.2 assists per game.
After that, a 21-year-old small forward was dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 5, 2020.
Since then, Jarred has participated in two Timberwolves contests. The NBA has been postponed until at least June 2020 due to the global Corona Virus outbreak.
G League
Jarred has played in 25 games for the G-League with averages of 14.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. He is now a member of the Iowa Wolves.
Vanderbilt is a tremendously talented player that can excel as a center, power forward, and small forward. His reach is 8 feet, 10 inches, and he has a wingspan of 7 feet, 1 inch.
The most impressive talent Jarred possesses has to be his capacity to make plays in space and during transitions.
He becomes an even greater player because of his rebounding skills. When it comes to running after the ball after it clanks off the cylinder, he appears to have a sixth instinct.
In the 20 G-League games he participated in, his rebounding percentage averaged 19.7%. Only eight players who were part of the regular rotation could surpass Jarred’s %.
He is a great offensive rebounder thanks to his lightning-fast and springy second-jumps. He moves past opponents with ease thanks to his quickness compared to other players his size and his well-developed handling.
Silky and fluid in his bounce pass, his back drop-off creates space for a wide-open triple for his teammates.
Vanderbilt plays excellent defense. His team benefits from his speed in both perimeter and interior defense.
His height gives him the advantage of being able to both accurately leap passing lanes when necessary and smother opposing ball handlers.
The run-outs and fast-break possibilities he thrives on are made possible by it.
He had astonishing offensive rebounds while attending Kentucky. Because of his height, he was able to catch 23.1 percent of the misses in the UK.
If he hadn’t needed a large margin of playtime to qualify, he would have been the No. 1 offensive rebounder in the country.
Nick Ward of Michigan State, who recorded 18.3 percent, was ranked first.
Comparison
Jarred was acquired by the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the same deal that brought Malik Beasley and Juancho Hernangomez to Minnesota.
His physical characteristics are thought to be comparable to those of 2020 draft candidates Tyler Bey, Paul Reed, and Precious Achiuwa.
Given his abilities and style of play, he is also compared to Australian basketball player Ben Simmons. His dunks are compared to Dennis Rodman’s in a similar way.
Injury
Jarred is currently healthy and fine. He hasn’t previously had serious injuries or been troubled by persistent injuries, either.
