  • Despite the changes, there have been a number of rumors that have contributed to the spread of false information on the site.

Who is Elon Musk?

Elon Musk is an investor and businessman. Elon Musk is the founder, CEO, and chief engineer of SpaceX; Tesla, Inc.’s angel investor, CEO, and product architect; Twitter, Inc.’s owner and CEO; and the founder of The Boring Company, Neuralink, and OpenAI.

Elon Musk does not charge for the use of They/Them pronouns

When a large group of people starts talking about something, humor can get lost in the shuffle.

Unfortunately, one contributing factor appeared when it appeared that many people had fallen for deception.

The claims that Elon Musk would charge more for the pronouns, on the other hand, are false.

The rumors began when popular podcaster Elijah Schaffer made a joke about Musk charging those who use they/them pronouns $16, or double the current rate.

“@elonmusk says journalists with “they/them” pronouns in bio will pay a $16 monthly fee instead of the standard $8 for verification because “they” identify as multiple people,” the podcaster tweeted.

Many fans were shocked, and a few were sarcastic in their responses to Schaffer’s tweet.

“I would pay $24 if he retweeted this,” a fan joked.

“Oh boy,” said another follower. Elon, THIS IS NOT A SMART MOVE. It was not very wise of you to go after the LBGTQ community (and the people who love them). You might want to reconsider this one.”

Schaffer’s account makes it clear that it is a running gag, as his handle also says “$8 is $8,” along with a pointing finger emoji pointing toward the blue checkmark. Unfortunately, only a few people got the joke.

Elon Musk has launched an $8 monthly Twitter subscription in order to remain verified

Elon Musk’s announcement that users will have to pay an $8 monthly fee in order to keep their platform verification sparked the allegations that they must pay $16 for they/them pronouns.

Many people criticized his decision, but Tesla’s owner was eager to defend it.

According to Musk, subscription rates will be adjusted per nation based on purchasing power parity.

Elon Musk also mentioned that the monthly membership will be priced similarly to a Starbucks purchase.

Verified users will receive additional benefits. Verified users, according to Musk, will be prioritized in answers, mentions, and searches.

This is done to ensure that the platform receives fewer spam messages.

Users will also receive half the advertising that other users do, as well as the ability to freely post lengthy films and audio on the platform.
