Elon Musk does not charge for the use of They/Them pronouns
When a large group of people starts talking about something, humor can get lost in the shuffle.
Unfortunately, one contributing factor appeared when it appeared that many people had fallen for deception.
The claims that Elon Musk would charge more for the pronouns, on the other hand, are false.
The rumors began when popular podcaster Elijah Schaffer made a joke about Musk charging those who use they/them pronouns $16, or double the current rate.
“@elonmusk says journalists with “they/them” pronouns in bio will pay a $16 monthly fee instead of the standard $8 for verification because “they” identify as multiple people,” the podcaster tweeted.
Many fans were shocked, and a few were sarcastic in their responses to Schaffer’s tweet.
“I would pay $24 if he retweeted this,” a fan joked.
“Oh boy,” said another follower. Elon, THIS IS NOT A SMART MOVE. It was not very wise of you to go after the LBGTQ community (and the people who love them). You might want to reconsider this one.”
Schaffer’s account makes it clear that it is a running gag, as his handle also says “$8 is $8,” along with a pointing finger emoji pointing toward the blue checkmark. Unfortunately, only a few people got the joke.
