Houston Rockets finally end their 20th straight losing streak
Even with James Harden playing, Houston struggled to win the championship last year. James’ trade, player ailments, and the Rockets’ string of losses have made this season much worse for them. They never seem to break their losing streak.
Since it began on February 6 following their defeat by the San Antonio Spurs.
This setback brings their losing streak to the worst in franchise history just 24 hours after their emotionally draining 20th straight defeat.
They finally had the victory over the Raptors they had been waiting for to halt their protracted losing streak.
Houston’s most recent victory came against the Memphis Grizzlies on February 5, when they scored 115 points.
Then, they suffered a five-point defeat to the San Antonio Spurs, 111-106.
They were never able to win again after the loss.
In their previous game, in which they lost to the Thunders 114-112, the Rockets came within four seconds of achieving their first victory since February 4.
Their 20th loss brought their total losses to 20, making their two-game losing skid the worst in franchise history.
The first victory following 20 losses in a row
These defeats were a severe blow to Houston’s rookie head coach Stephen Silas in addition to the players.
In his postgame news conference on Sunday, he was upset.
He was mute and angry when questioned about his recent losing streak.
After 20 games, what seemed like an endless dream came to an end.
Twenty-four hours after their heartbreaking loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, they defeated the Raptors on March 22, Monday, by an 18-point margin.
John Wall dropped his first triple-double in five years to snap the losing run.
Wall finished with 10 assists, 11 rebounds, and 19 points.
Since February 5, 2016, this was his first triple-double. As a result, the Rockets achieved their first victory since February 4.
By the middle of the third quarter, each of the five Houston starters had amassed double-digit points.
Jae’Sean Tate led the way with 22 points, followed by Sterling Brown (20), Christian Wood (19), and Danuel House Jr. (12).
Houston had an 88-86 advantage at the end of the third quarter and went on a 9-1 run to start the fourth.
Houston got off to a shaky start as Wall picked up his third straight technical foul after disagreeing with a referee five minutes into the first quarter.
Less than three minutes into the second quarter, Wood committed his third personal foul, cutting his first-half scoring time to just eight minutes.
For the first half, it looked as though Houston would continue their losing skid.
Houston survived the first half and went on to win the game, snapping their losing skid.
They caused the Toronto Raptors to lose nine in a row.
The record for the longest losing streak was almost broken by Houston
Houston set a record for the longest losing streak in team history on March 21.
They were the longest losing run since Philadelphia’s record-setting 28-game losing streak that spanned the 2014–15 and 2015–16 seasons, which tied for the ninth-worst mark in NBA history.
The Rockets were eight losses away from the record for the longest losing streak and six losses away from the single-season record.
However, the victory on Monday night ended the run and kept them from breaking the record.
The Houston team’s players, especially the coach, who was dejected following the team’s loss the previous night, now have optimism and a grin on their faces thanks to this victory.
Over the past 24 hours, Silas received support and encouragement from several NBA coaches, both present and past.
When the final horn rang Monday night in the Toyota Center and the rookie coach hugged Houston point guard John Wall, those discussions had a part in boosting Silas’ spirits.
For a win in March of this wacky season, Silas noted, “it’s just unexplainable.
I love the men so much.
while you’re struggling and making a lot of effort.
After each defeat, you can see the disappointment on the players’ faces.
Then, after today’s game, you walk into the locker room and see how pleased and jubilant everyone is.
It’s fantastic.
“Yeah, whatever. Yesterday, I was depressed.
It already seems like a week ago.
We reorganize, and unite, and, yes, it feels much better because I know how good it feels for them.
I don’t care what it is for me; I’m just glad that those guys don’t have to hear about it or deal with it.

The cause of the recent losses
Before the losing skid, Houston had won seven of its previous eight games and was off to a strong start.
However, in that win over the Grizzlies, star center Christian Wood seriously damaged his ankle, forcing him to miss the following 17 games.
Other significant injuries for Houston during the losing streak included the absence of guards Victor Oladipo, Eric Gordon, and Wall for protracted periods.
The Rockets and club forward P.J. Tucker also mutually decided to split ways.
He was subsequently traded to the Milwaukee Bucks when he decided to sit out the first game following the All-Star break.
Due to everything mentioned above, Houston was forced to play certain games during the streak in the NBA with even a minimum of eight players.
Even yet, they gave every game their all in pursuit of victory.
We haven’t been healthy, but that isn’t a justification for losing 20 games in a row.
Since everyone has been experiencing health and safety procedures, as well as injuries, John Wall, who had a triple-double throughout the game, explained.
“We simply went out and competed, regardless of what was happening.”
After taking the lead over the Raptors late in the second quarter, the Rockets never relinquished it.
The Rockets increased their lead to five points when Houston guard Danuel House Jr. made a 51-foot shot to beat the halfcourt buzzer.
“Whoa, well, maybe this is the night, I thought. Perhaps,” Silas said.
We’ve played games where we only made four 3-pointers throughout the entire contest. We just made a half-court shot.
There was a sense that something extraordinary might occur.
A victory for us after so many consecutive defeats is noteworthy.
Christian Wood, who scored all 19 of his points in the second half, commented, “It’s about damn time, man.”
It’s past due, dammit.
Although Houston has a long way to go before they can truly celebrate, this victory was particularly meaningful to them.
