Hassan Whiteside

Hassan Whiteside is an NBA basketball player. Hassan Whiteside had already begun to play in the NBA when the Sacramento Kings selected him in the 2010 draft.

He quickly left the country, though, and began competing in international competitions like the Lebanese Basketball League.

Whiteside was named the NBA’s top rebounder in 2017 and the league’s top blocker twice, in 2016 and 2020.

His rebound totals are so impressive that they are almost on par with his point totals.

Childhood, Family, and Education

Hassan Whiteside was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on June 13, 1989.

He was Hasson Arbubakrr and Debbie Whiteside’s third child.

Because he spent the majority of his childhood living with her in North Carolina, Hassan and his siblings adopted her mother’s last name.

It was difficult, nevertheless, to grow up in poverty with six other siblings.

To feed them and take care of their other needs, Debbie, his mother, worked four different jobs.

Hasson, his father, was a former American football player who played professionally.

But because he was raised apart from his mother, he did not spend much time with him.

Hassan, who was raised in Gastonia, frequently changed schools and attended various institutions in North Carolina.

But until he graduated middle school, he went to Hunter Huss High School and Ashbrook High School.

Basketball was one of his favorite sports, and he was quite passionate about it from a young age.

He enjoyed playing games at school and with his neighborhood pals. Whiteside’s childhood fantasy was to play in the NBA.

However, no one at the time thought he could succeed because of his physical attributes, notably his height, thus they frequently humiliated and demotivated him.

But he always benefited greatly from his mother’s encouragement to persevere with what he enjoyed doing.

His mother asked his father for assistance during his first year of high school at Forestview, so he briefly moved in with him in New Jersey.

He remained there for a year, finishing his high school education there, before moving back in with his mother.

After completing his high school studies at The Patterson School, he enrolled at Marshall University to continue his education.

Net Worth & Earnings

Hassan Whiteside has a net worth of between $15 million and $25 million.

The precise amount is uncertain, despite the fact that some places on the internet estimate it to be $16 million.

Hassan had modest compensation when he first joined the NBA because he was one of the last picks and saw little action.

For his first two seasons, the Sacramento Kings gave him a salary of almost $1.5 million.

After that, he played for about two years in the minor leagues, where his wages were pitiful in comparison to those in the NBA.

He did, however, make a lot of money after returning to the NBA regular season.

In the 2019–20 NBA season, the Portland Trail Blazers gave him the largest salary of his career—$27 million.

He received almost $2.4 million with the Utah Jazz for his participation in their most recent season.

From his NBA career to date, Whiteside has already earned almost $103 million.

Additionally, he has earned a substantial sum of money from brand endorsement agreements with numerous businesses, including Nike, Harman International, Panini, etc.

Home

In May 2017, Hassan purchased his mother a brand-new house in North Carolina.

He did that shortly after inking a significant contract with the Miami Heat in 2016 worth over $98 million.

The player went with her on a house tour without making any indication that he would give her the house as a present. Debbie is overjoyed following the surprise.

She observed that he had always promised to do something wonderful for her, and now he had fulfilled that promise.

She claims that the six-bedroom mansion “had everything she had dreamed.”

Through his profits, Hassan has not only met his requirements and lived a lavish lifestyle, but he has also made investments that have benefited society as a whole.

In 2012, Hassan and his family established a non-profit organization called Nassan’s Place in memory of one of their brothers who have autism.

Its headquarters are in New Jersey, and it works hard to raise awareness of autism.

Additionally, it gives low-income families financial support so they can raise their kids in a secure setting.

High School Career

For Forestview High School in North Carolina, Whiteside began playing basketball in high school.

His lesser height, together with the fact that the team already had superior players, led to his dismissal from the team during his sophomore season, according to the coaches.

He was 5’11” when he was kicked out, but the center position required someone considerably taller.

He surprised Dan Ghent, the then-head coach at The Forestview when he added an additional eight inches toward the end of the year.

He played for the East Side High School in New Jersey for two seasons before moving on to his junior year. That season, he significantly improved, scoring 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

He also participated in high school basketball competitions for Hope Christian Academy and Patterson Academy, two additional schools.

When he graduated in 2009, numerous sports agencies gave him great ratings.

Career in College

Hassan was given the opportunity to play for the Marshall University basketball team despite receiving scholarship offers from other colleges, including South Carolina, Auburn, Kentucky, etc.

After amassing 14 points and 17 rebounds in a single game on November 28 against the Ohio University Bobcats, he was quickly mentioned in the news.

He averaged 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game for the whole season.

Additionally, that year, Whiteside blocked more shots than anyone else in the nation. He set multiple national records that season with the performance.

On March 29, 2010, Hassan finally made up his mind to forgo the final three years of his college career and declare for the NBA draft.

Professional Career

He was the 33rd pick of the second round by the Sacramento Kings in the draft.

In the Kings’ opening game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, he participated. Sadly, in his first season, he only appeared in one game for them.

Due to the fouls, he made in that game, he had to miss some matches. But just as he was about to make a comeback, he hurt his knee and had to have surgery to recover.

As a result, he missed every game of his rookie NBA season.

After the conclusion of the second season, the Kings immediately released him, and Hassan spent a brief time playing in the NBA G League.

The following year, he played in China and Lebanon for several overseas teams. But after he committed to the Miami Heat in 2014, everything changed.

After returning from abroad, he participated in 48 games in the first season, averaging 11.8 and 10.0 rebounds per contest.

In the same manner, voters placed him in fourth place for the NBA Most Improved Player Award that year. Up until 2019, Hassan played four more seasons with the Heat, and his output kept becoming better.

On July 16, 2019, they exchanged him for the Portland Trail Blazers in preparation for the coming year. He has since played for two NBA teams, one of which was his old squad, the Sacramento Kings.

Personal Life

Ashly Ariza, a stunning woman from Latin America, and Hassan Whiteside are deeply involved. Soon after they first met in 2016, Hassan and Ashly started dating.

Ariza was born in Columbia on January 22, 1996, and after graduating from college, he relocated to Miami.

At the Universidad Cooperativa de Columbia in Medellin, Columbia, she earned her bachelor’s degree.

Ariza is well-known among Instagram users and has more than 10,000 followers in addition to being Whiteside’s girlfriend. She enjoys working out a lot and occasionally models.

Jayden Legend Whiteside is the name of Ariza and Whiteside’s kid. On December 9, 2018, he was born.

The Avenatti Case

Whiteside and Michael Avenatti, a former American lawyer who is now a convicted felon, engaged in a court dispute in 2017.

Hassan apparently gave the infamous lawyer a sizable sum of money to send to his ex-girlfriend Alexis Gardener, but the lawyer allegedly embezzled it. Instead, he used the funds to purchase a private aircraft.

Longtime lovers Gardener and Hassan ultimately parted ways in 2016.

So, as payment for the time she dedicated to helping him during his NBA career, he promised to give her a settlement check for $3 million.

However, they eventually found out that Avenatti had received more money from his client than he was authorized to.

Although he had taken approximately $2 million out of Whiteside, his legal fee was only $1 million.
