Early life and Childhood

Harolyn Suzanne Nicholas was born on September 2, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Harolyn’s entire life is hampered by her mental disability.

And Dorothy blamed herself for her daughter’s brain damage.

Because she tried to postpone her birth while waiting for her husband to accompany her to the hospital.

The disability, however, was determined to be caused by the surgical instruments used during the delivery.

Harolyn’s mother is the late Dorothy Jean Dandridge (1922-1965),

one of Hollywood’s most famous actresses of the time and the first African American actress to be nominated.

For an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1954 film “Carmen Josen.”

Harolyn’s father is the late Harold Lloyd Nicholas (1921-2000).
