As a result, Lehmann made an adjustment for Jorgensen, enabling him to conduct running workouts and training during the off-season when he wasn’t swimming.

After graduating from high school, Jorgensen went on to become a standout swimmer and track athlete, earning many state titles.

Jorgensen didn’t intend to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison at first because she thought it was too close to her home.

On her first visit, though, she fell in love with the collegiate atmosphere. Despite her talent as a runner, she pursued her love and joined the collegiate swimming team.

For her first three years in college, Jorgensen competed in the Big Ten swimming competition.

After being cut from the NCCA swim team, she consulted with her high school track coach and chose to join the track and cross country club.

Her decision paid off later in life when she was named an All-American in both track and cross country. In 2009, she also won the Big Ten 5000m and 3000m races.

Jorgensen, likewise, won three NCAA track championships and two NCAA cross-country championships.

In 2009, Jorgensen was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team six times and was awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor.

Workout

Gwen enjoys working out seven days a week, without taking a day off. In addition, she keeps her body active by swimming, riding, or walking on her rest day.

She prefers to include exercises and workouts that are mostly focused on speed.

She enjoys running one and a half hours before breakfast in the morning. She then works out in the gym for another hour and a half.

She opted to try an arduous activity that involved swimming, cycling and running, despite the fact that she didn’t own a bike at the time.

She got an elite card in USAT’s Elite Development Race in 2010 after placing eighth in her first-ever triathlon competition.

In her first season, she was named USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year and Elite Duathlete of the Year.

Olympics

Gwen qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in the United States after an outstanding 2011 season.

Unfortunately, she finished 38th at the London Olympics due to a flat tire on her bicycle.

World Series of the ITU

Patrick Lemieux grew up in Fargo, North Dakota, where he loved to ride his bike. In 2011, he became pro and competed in a number of cycling competitions across the United States.

During group training in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the couple met for the first time in June 2011. Jorgensen was young at the time, and she was just getting her cycling legs in preparation for the Olympics.

On the first day they met, he asked her out to supper. Furthermore, as she was a novice cyclist, Patrick became more eager to assist her.

They began long-distance dating after that. Patrick traveled to the London Olympics to witness Jorgensen’s maiden race.

However, due to a flat tire, she finished 38th in the race. She then spent around three weeks in Australia for training in preparation for her two races.

Patrick had also planned to accompany her on her journey. They stayed together and trained.

Then, in New Zealand, she came in second place in her final race of the season. It was also the most major achievement of her career at the time.
