Early Career
Meerschaert entered the cutthroat world of MMA with tenacity and the desire to make it as a professional fighter.
Gerald began his professional mixed martial arts career in 2007. He also had a 1-0 amateur mixed martial arts record.
Gerald fought most of his fights at the Freestyle Combat Challenge in the beginning of his career. In 2007, he won his first MMA match, two months after losing his first match to Jay Ellis.
Gerald, meanwhile, decided to join the Madtown Throwdown promotion after his last freestyle fight in 2008. Gerald undoubtedly won the match with a rare-neck choke.
