King’s Short Biography (Age) & Married Life

The renowned television host was born on 28 December 1954 as a daughter of father, Scott King, and mother Peggy King.

She grew up under the wings of her parents in Turkey where she joined an American school and eventually returned to Maryland.

She is a graduate of the University of Maryland where she obtained a double degree in sociology and psychology in 1976.

Despite her excellent job, Gayle has not found prosperity in her marriage life.

She was married to an American attorney, William Bumpus in the year 1982.

Their romance lasted for 11 years and they were divorced in 1993.

Gayle and William share two children, a son named William Bumpus Jr. and a daughter named Kirby Bumpus.

Gayle seems to have a strong link and attachment with both her children Kirby and William as

she continually keeps uploading cute photographs of both on her own Instagram account like the one above where she bids her daughter a warm happy birthday.

In July 2016, in an interview with Vanity Fair the veteran CBS host opened up about her failed marriage upon recalling

the infamous incident dated almost three decades ago when she caught her husband cheating on her.

She criticized her spouse saying: “I was married to a cheater…

She went to marital counseling.

I have been divorced since 1993, so I’m all recovered and all. I have worked it out. I’m not bitter. I’m OK.

In response to this, William apologized to Gayle via a statement on Page Six saying:

“I have been haunted by this life-altering choice…

Though I have dealt with this privately … I publicly apologize for the major transgression that dramatically changed all of our lives.”

William even put on words of praise for his ex-wife stating that she has his utmost respect even labeling Gayle as a great wife,

an excellent mother, and a fantastic co-parent.

Hopefully, these words will soothe the tension between the two in the future.
