Durant and Monica Wright, a former basketball star, had one of the most prominent romances back in the day.
They were well on their way to a happy marriage. But destiny had other intentions.
Their engagement was called off, and the couple separated.
In an interview, Wright discussed her relationship with KD and how she was chastised for her faith.
“Yeah, in my previous relationship [with NBA All-Star Kevin Durant], I had to make a decision about surrendering myself as a woman,” she explained.
I had to make the difficult decision to leave a relationship that many others believed I was crazy to leave. It received a lot of criticism.
But I believe God was on my side.”
