If you’ve seen Zack Snyder’s much-anticipated Justice League, you’ve probably seen the words “For Autumn” shortly before the credits roll and Allison Crowe’s cover of Hallelujah plays. The words “For Autumn” refer to the film’s director, Zack Snyder’s late daughter, Autumn Snyder, who tragically died in early 2017.
Autumn was Zack and his ex-wife Denise Weber’s adoptive daughter, whom they had adopted when she was little over a year old.
She was raised by the filmmaker and his now-wife Deborah Synder when Zack and Weber divorced.

Autumn Snyder: Who Was She?
Autumn was born in 1996 and has always celebrated her birthday on November 27.
She was born in China and was born under the sign of Sagittarius.
Her biological parents’ identities have yet to be revealed.
It’s also unclear whether she ever met her biological parents after being adopted by the American filmmaker and his ex-wife.
In terms of her upbringing with the Snyders, she was raised in Pasadena, California, among the director’s seven other biological and adoptive children.
Autumn was strongly inspired by Zack’s involvement in writing and directing.
She was the only one of his children who shared his enthusiasm for his works.
She used to keep a diary and compose stories.
She had even attended Sarah Lawrence College, following in her father’s footsteps, to hone her skills in those subjects.
Unfortunately, she committed suicide just one year before her graduation.
Autumn Snyder Was Suffering from Depression
Autumn had been diagnosed with depression and was put on medicine for a long period.
She also used to go to therapy sessions, but none of that was helping her get out of her condition.
Autumn used to doubt her worth, Zack said Vanity Fair in February 2021.
“‘How much am I worth? So, what should I do? “What am I about?” he said, quoting his late daughter’s statement.
The Wonder Woman producer always replied nicely to those queries and informed her that her life was priceless.
“The dialogue was like, ‘Of course you’re fantastic!'” he remarked.
What do you mean by “worth”? You are more valuable than anything in the world!’ And she’d just say, ‘…yeah.'”
Autumn was still struggling despite his best efforts.
She used to write bits of her struggle, vent her agony, and find solace through words – she had written a first-person Si-Fi fantasy tale about an outsider fighting to fit in.
“Her primary protagonists are always in this war with things from another dimension that no one can see,” Zack explained.
And that fight was happening to her on a daily basis.
I believe there are many people in that battle, and they grin and nod at you.”
After years of struggling with depression, she finally gave up on March 12, 2017, and committed suicide.
Her terrible death shook the entire Snyder family, and it was a difficult pill to accept.
People began to raise awareness about depression and suicide prevention after Autumn’s passing.
There was also fundraising arranged by Zack’s supporters, who raised over $500,000 and donated it to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
In May 2017, the filmmaker told The Hollywood Reporter that his family planned to publish Autumn’s Si-Fi fantasy novel manuscript and give all earnings to charity.
“In the end, she didn’t make it, but her character does, and I think there would be something cathartic for people,” he added.
Speaking of his late daughter’s writing, Zack recounted how she used to include a quote from Chuck Palahniuk in everything she wrote.
“We all die,” he said, quoting a phrase from a poem.
The idea is to create something that will last forever, not to live forever.”
Finally, he said, “Perhaps this helps.”
Zack Snyder’s Reaction to Autumn’s Death
Zack was preoccupied with Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated impending superhero team-up, Justice League, at the time Autumn committed suicide.
He just took two months off work at first.
However, such a brief interval was insufficient to alleviate the anguish caused by the death of one of his cherished children.
As a result, he decided to officially leave the film and give over his responsibilities to Joss Whedon.
“The demands of this work are really rigorous,” Zack told The Hollywood Reporter.
It consumes everything. And during the previous two months, I’ve realized… I’ve decided to take a break from the movie to spend time with my family, especially my children, who really need me.
They’re all having difficulties. “I’m having difficulty.”
After he left the project, Whedon followed Warner Bros.’s wishes, which Zack had not, and undertook major rewrites and reshoots that were radically different from what Zack had in mind.
When the film was released, it attracted widespread criticism from critics and DC Universe fans, sparking the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut.
While all of this was going on, Zack was still grieving the loss of Autumn and hadn’t committed to any additional performing ventures, either as a director, producer, or writer.
Finally, Warner Bros. responded to their fans’ concerns and invited Zack to present his idea and vision for the film, granting him complete creative control.
The film was titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and it was supposed to be released in 2021.
It was his first film since 2017.

Using his late daughter as motivation, he worked tirelessly on the film, and when it was released, people were astounded to discover how Zack had completely redesigned it.
“Toward the end of the film, it says ‘For Autumn.'” This would not have occurred without her,” Zack stated in one of his interviews.
