Bishop appeared in the first series of the Irish version of Dancing with the Stars in 2017. Furthermore, he was partnered with Italian dancer Giulia Dotta.
They were eliminated in the sixth week of the competition and finished eighth.
Bishop currently hosts the Des podcast, in which he interviews comics, politicians, artists, and anyone else he finds interesting about life on both sides of the Atlantic.
He began hosting shows at the International Comedy Cellar, which was founded by Irish comedians Ardal O’Hanlon, Kevin Gildea, and Barry Murphy. Bishop honed his performance here.
After his TV show, The Des Work Experience aired on RTÉ Two in 2004, he gained a larger audience. Bishop attempted to survive for one month by working a minimum wage job in various parts of Ireland on the show.
He worked at Abrakebabra in Waterford, The Aqua-dome in Tralee, Superquinn in Dundalk, and the Central Hotel in Dublin during the series.
Bishop Desmond Brother Bishop has two younger brothers, one of whom is a comedian in Ireland. Both are involved in the operation of the International Comedy Club.
Bishop published his book, My Dad Was Almost James Bond, in 2011.
