Delonte West was recently seen on the streets begging for money, which was a heartbreaking sight to watch because he was asked a few questions about his past NBA career, after which he replied he doesn’t even remember being a basketball player.

West had forgotten he was a former NBA player
Everyone was compelled to try and coordinate some support for former NBA player Delonte West after it came to light the type of suffering he was going through.
Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, was the first to reach out to the former player.
Even though it appeared he was on the right track after seeing him off the streets working out and looking for work, it now appears West has reverted to his previous harmful habits and lifestyle.
When asked about his life in the NBA and being a quality basketball player, West, who appears to have lost his path, unfortunately, admitted that he sometimes forgets he once enjoyed a lifestyle that many people dream of having.
Instead, it appears that he came to terms with his new life on the streets, begging for money and taking each day as it came, unsure of what the future held for him.
“Sometimes I forget I played basketball; God knows what he’s doing; if things had gone differently, you and I wouldn’t be sitting here chatting.”
West was once a capable NBA player
West played in the NBA for eight years, most of which he spent with the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside LeBron James.
His final season was with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011/2012, following which he was released and never recovered despite being only 28 years old.

After that, his life became a tragic narrative of drug misuse, homelessness, and alcoholism, and despite the NBA community’s efforts to assist the former player, it appears West chose this lifestyle and lacked the willpower to alter things for the better.
He was caught in front of a Florida police station last year, but he was soon released and back on the streets.
It remains to be seen whether he will make a positive adjustment in his life, but in general, persons suffering comparable problems seldom get out of them, even when help is provided, as West was last year by Mark Cuban.
