When we remark that nothing relaxes our minds more than splashing ourselves in the water, we’re sure all the water babies can empathize. David Boudia is one such water baby who has turned his therapeutic bond with water into a career.
The American diver is an Olympic medalist who has won multiple medals.
David won a gold medal in the individual 10m platform event at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

He finished with 544.25 points.
Barcelona in 2013

He finished fifth in the men’s individual 10m platform with 517.40 points.
2015 Kazan
Boudia then took silver at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan. He finished with 560.20 points.
For the World Aquatic Championship in 2019, Gwangju Boudia moved from 10m to 3m.
He also made the decision because of the concussion he had.
He did not, however, win any medals and finished fifth in the 3 m springboard event.
David Boudia will not compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
Boudia was initially undecided between returning to the Olympics after the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games or retiring.
In reality, in 2017, he chose to take a vacation from international events.
Nonetheless, he returned in the fall of 2017 to prepare for his fourth Olympic Games.
He was inspired to win further golds after winning gold in London in 2012.
He did, however, sustain a concussion in February 2018.
It happened due to a training error that caused him to tumble into the ocean.
He hit the ground hard and experienced darkness and dizziness.
But Boudia remained optimistic.
He went to the Olympics trials anyway.

Boudia came in third place in the United States Olympic trials for Tokyo 2020.
He won the 3 m springboard by a slim margin of 5.5 points.
Similarly, Boudia was the oldest diver in the trials, and it was also his first time competing on the 3 m springboard.
He had been preparing for the Olympics with his family under lockdown.
Despite not competing in the Olympics, Boudia remarked that he was nevertheless filled with delight.

“Learning from your mistakes is important, but concentrating on them will leave you dissatisfied, and that is not how I want to end my struggle this week.”
In those moments, you have two options: stay defeated or move forward. I’ve decided to move on with joy and contentment!”
He also praised the divers who qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
David Boudia – Depression and Drugs
As a teen, Olympic gold winner David Boudia struggled with drugs and suicidal thoughts.
While in university, he smoked cigarettes, experimented with marijuana, and drank excessively.
He even considered suicide.
Boudia, on the other hand, surmounted all of these obstacles and became a national hero when he won gold for the United States.
He is now a devout Christian.
He invoked faith, which led to him becoming who he is now.
