David Archuleta emerged from the closet
On June 12, 2021, marking the occasion of Pride Month, David Archuleta took to Instagram and declared himself as gay.
The musician published a profound message about his journey to rebuild his faith in his sexuality.
“I like to keep things to myself, but I also thought it was essential to share because I know so many other individuals from religious backgrounds feel the same way,” he explained in the caption.
He stated that he came out as gay to his family in 2014, but was also honest to himself and his close family for some years about his uncertainties about his own sexuality.
“I’ve been telling myself and my close relatives for years that I’m not sure about my own sexuality,” Archuleta stated.
Regarding his uncertainties regarding his sexuality, he wrote:
“But then I felt similar sensations for both genders so maybe a spectrum of bisexual.
Then I discovered that I don’t have as many sexual cravings and urges as normal people, which I guess works because I’ve made a promise to save myself till marriage.
When a person does not have sexual desires, they are referred to as asexual.”
Archuleta also told individuals in similar situations, “you’re not alone.
You can be a member of the LGBTQIA+ community while also believing in God and His gospel purpose.”
