Dan began to take writing more seriously after enrolling in college. Dan finished his first serious novel at the age of 22 while still a college student.

Professional Career

Wells wrote his first stories, based on the Choose Your Own Adventure series, when he was in second grade. Where the Wild Things Are was one of his early influences.

During his childhood, Dan was exposed to science fiction and fantasy films such as The Hobbit and Star Wars. He enjoyed reading and frequented the library.

Dan read classics such as French and Russian literature in addition to sci-fi and fantasy novels. As a child, he also enjoyed writing scripts, songs, and poetry.

Ruin is a series that combines The Hunger Games’ thrilling action with the provocative themes of Blade Runner and The Stand.

His first novel, I Am Not a Serial Killer, was released in 2009. The novel has been published in a number of different languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, and Russian.

Dan did extensive research to make the series’ protagonist, John Cleaver, appear genuine. His fascination with serial killer predictors inspired him to write the novel.

In 2016, Max Records and Christopher Lloyd starred in a film adaptation of the novel. Dan wrote a sequel, Mr. Monster, which was published by Tor Books in 2010.

I Don’t Want to Kill You, the third installment in the John Cleaver series, was released in 2011. With the second trilogy of books, Dan continued John Cleaver’s story but changed and developed the protagonist.

Some of his novels feature main characters who suffer from mental illnesses. In Serial Killer, for example, John Cleaver is diagnosed with an antisocial personality disorder.

In addition, the protagonist of The Hollow City has schizophrenia. Dan expanded into young adult dystopia with his Partials Sequence in 2012.

The series debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list for children’s series in 2014. In 2016, Dan released Bluescreen, a Young Adult science fiction novel. This novel is set in Los Angeles in 2050.
