Who is Dan Rather?

Dan is an ambitious man who constantly tries to grab attention, even to the point of getting him fired. Dan, who gained notoriety primarily by portraying the US President’s adversary, has chosen to follow his famed pattern and target Donald Trump as president-elect.

Back to Business: Legendary newsman Dan Rather appeared on the programs produced by The Young Turks network to dissect President Trump’s comments on his effect on the American economy.

Let’s look at this former news anchor’s life today and all the drama he has been involved in up to this point!

Short Bio of Dan Rather

Daniel Irvin Rather was born on October 31, 1931, in Wharton, Texas, to Byrl Veda and Daniel Irvin Rather Sr.

His mother worked as a waitress and seamstress, and his father dug ditches.

At Huntsville’s Sam Houston State University, he finished his undergraduate studies.

In 1962, he began his career with CBS News when he was appointed bureau chief for the Southwest Bureau in Dallas.

Later, he went on to serve as the host of several important CBS News programs, including CBS Evening News, 48 Hours, and 60 Minutes, for which he received numerous Emmy and Peabody Awards.

Dan was given the Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Award in 2012.

Dan Rather’s opinion of Trump became widely discussed

Dan had been out of the spotlight for a while until deciding to lately express his opinions on the US President.

But he had nothing but complaints and accusations to say about the infamous Trump.

He had an appearance on the TBS program, Conan, back in December 2017.

Speaking with the show’s presenter Conan O’Brien, he attacked Trump for publicly praising Rob Porter, the former White House staff secretary who was charged with abusing his ex-wives.

Trump had previously praised Rob, who left the White House after the allegations,

saying that he had done a great job there and had a great career ahead of him.

He responded by pointing out that people who have been credibly accused of abusing their wives should not be given the honor of working for the White House.

He also made remarks about President Trump’s age and compared him to “poor oysters,” which may be poisonous if consumed.

Dan also charged Trump as being racist and waging a campaign to discredit the media.

He added that having a President like that was out of the ordinary for the US.

Recognize Dan Rather’s Earlier Disputes

The previous President wasn’t very kind to Dan, despite the fact that President Trump hasn’t yet commented on the interview and may not do so.

In 2004, he and his producer Mary Mapes decided to make things personal with President Bush by questioning his time in the National Guard.

This was done months after Dan had reported on the killings and tortures occurring at a jail outside of Baghdad.

Bush was charged with obtaining preferential treatment at the camp while he was a member of the Texas Air National Guard from 1968 until 1973.

The former president was accused of joining the National Guard to escape serving in the Vietnam War and of going AWOL (absent without leave) from the camp in the CBS News investigation that aired on 60 Minutes on September 8, 2004.

Dan produced copies of memos written by Bush’s squadron commander that he had obtained from Bill Burkett,

the Texas Air National Guard’s lieutenant colonel, as proof.

The memos said that Bush had been told to show up for a physical in 1972,

but that he had disobeyed, fueling rumors that he had vanished without a trace.

The Bush administration kept quiet for a long as the upcoming presidential elections drew near,

but Dan thought they were waiting for his victory.

An independent inquiry was conducted to verify the veracity of the documentary and the memoranda that had been used as evidence,

though not long after the elections were over and Bush was re-elected as president of the United States.

Dan Rather Was Costed By Controversy

Dan didn’t even think about checking the documents before airing them on national television, it turned out.

When it was discovered that the proper procedures had not been followed before the report was shown on national television, the documentary was disowned.

Dan concurred although he emphasized that it was never established that the documents were fakes.

Due to the scandal, Dan not only lost his reputation but also his spot at the anchor desk.

After working for the news network for almost 44 years, he was sacked from CBS News in 2006.

Dan first made the decision to remain silent, but later sued the CBS network for $70 million.

The lawsuit was subsequently dropped in 2009 at the New York State appeals court.

Dan’s current net worth of $70 million, acquired over the course of a career spanning more than five decades,

would have doubled had he won the lawsuit.

Dan Rather On The Meme Geek’s Role!

Dan is clinging to his sarcasm in order to ring the issues now that he is aware that people are too dumb to appreciate the quest of hard-hitting journalism.

He would have been of legal age to sign a retirement document even if he hadn’t been dismissed from CBS.

What’s left is agony because the position was taken away.

He has discovered Twitter to be the ideal outlet for his suffering.

This time, he takes extra care not to offend anyone and uses sarcastic techniques in his tweets.

Additionally, he frequently appears on The News With Dan Rather on the Young Turks network.

He responds to criticism on the network, a large part of it comes from Trump talks.
