Crystal Bernard is a well-known American actress, composer, and singer. Crystal Bernard is best remembered for her role as Helen in the TV sitcom “Wings.”

Throughout her long career, she has experimented with numerous forms of entertainment and achieved success in all of them, proving herself to be a truly multi-talented individual.

Early life and Childhood

Crystal Bernard was born on September 30, 1961, in Garland, Texas, USA, under the astrological sign of Libra, and is of American nationality.

She was born in the family of a televangelist in a Southern Baptist home.

Her father’s name is Jerry Wayne Bernard, and he was a preacher, singer, and subsequently an actor.

Her mother’s name is Gaylon Fussell, and her age and occupation are unknown.

Crystal grew up in Oak Creek Village, outside Houston, Texas, with her older sister Robyn and two younger siblings, Angelique and Scarlett.

He was born on January 18, 1937, and was roughly 52 years old when he participated in the film “Chameleons” (1989), portraying a role that was familiar to him, a preacher.

He also appeared as a bank client in “Wings,” the series in which his daughter, Crystal, featured.

Later, he participated in two television movies, “Lady Against the Odds” (1992) and “Siringo” (1993). (1995).

His most recent part was that of Dr. Mallozzi in the film “The Contract” (1999).

Crystal went to Bammel Middle School, where she amazed her teachers with her diverse abilities.

She even made the Tom Sawyer movie, which she filmed and edited herself for a school project, as well as creating a song for it.

Crystal Bernard then attended Spring High School, graduating in 1979.

And she went on to attend Baylor University, where her father is also an alumnus and liked studying. She graduated with a BA in international relations.

Acting Career:

Bernard’s first employment was in 1982 when she landed a tiny role as K.C. Cunningham in the classic series “Happy Days” (1974 – 1984).

She appeared in 16 episodes of the program, sharing the screen with Henry Winkler, Tom Bosley, Marion Ross, and Ron Howard.

Then she began to gain additional roles in shows including “Gimme a Break!” (1982-1995), “Fantasy Island” (1977-1984), “The Love Boat” (1977-1987), and “High School U.S.A.” (1983-1984).

Crystal was cast as Amy Tompkins in the hit sitcom “It’s A Living” (1980–89) in 1983, opposite Gail Edwards and Barrie Young fellow.

She was cast as Helen Chappel Hackett, a young lunch counter operator in the airport café in the 1990s series “Wings” (1990 – 1997).

The TV show followed the members of the fictional airport Tom Nevers Field Airport and their daily interactions with passengers and coworkers.

The sitcom was a big hit with the audience and ran for eight seasons.

Crystal’s acting career progressed as she was spotted by renowned Hollywood filmmakers.

And she began receiving invites to TV films and movies.

Thus, she starred in films such as “Young Doctors in Love” (1982), in which she played Julie; “Slumber Party Massacre II” (1987), in which she played Courtney Bates; “Without Her Consent” (1990), and “Lady Against the Odds” (1991). 

Among her subsequent works are “Gideon” (1998), “Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus” (2004), and “Meet the Santas” (2006).

She also played Lisa Christie in the television series “According to Jim” (2001–2009).

Theatre Career:

Crystal chose to try her hand at acting once her contract with the “Wings” series expired. As a result, she took part in the Los Angeles production of “Crimes of the Heart” (1999).

It was later nominated for “Best Play” by Tony Awards.  She also played Annie Oakley, an American sniper, in the Marquis Theatre production of “Annie Get Your Gun” (2001).

The west coast premiere of the Falcon Theatre production “Barbra’s Wedding” (2005), in which she shared the stage with Daniel Stern.

He is an established actor and playwright appeared to be her final effort on the stage.

Music Career:

Crystal’s time as a cast member in the “Wings” series was both difficult and fruitful for her, as she discovered new strength and a desire to do more in the entertainment industry.

As a result, she resolved to clear the dust from her songwriter’s notebook and became the author of several singles that were quite successful and popular.

She co-wrote the song “If I Were Your Girl,” which was performed by Paula Abdul and featured in her “Head Over Heels” album.

She also recorded a duet with popular singer Peter Cetera, “(I Wanna Take) Forever Tonight” (1995).

It was included on Peter’s album “One Clear Voice.”

Another duet was performed with Jim Messina, in 2005, Crystal recorded “Watching the River Run” with the folk-rock singer.

It’s also worth noting that she collaborated with her father on multiple CDs, singing gospel music for his on-stage performances and seminars.
