Chris Cooley was selected 81st overall by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft.

In comparison to the first half of the 2004 season, the Redskins used Cooley a lot more in the last eight games.

During his first NFL season, the Redskins had six touchdowns and 37 receptions for 314 yards as a result of his contributions.

Chris Cooley had a solid season as a receiver in 2005, catching 71 passes for 774 yards and seven scores.

In a game against the Dallas Cowboys, he set the Redskins franchise record for tight end receptions in a single season.

Similarly, Cooley led all NFC tight ends in fan voting for the annual Pro Bowl, with 422,314 votes.

Later, he was named first-team All-NFC by Pro Football Weekly.

During a Monday Night Football game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the middle of the 2009 season, Cooley shattered his ankle.

Chris Cooley put forth a great effort throughout the 2010 season, appearing in all sixteen games.

However, he had to have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee at the start of the following season.

He did not play in any preseason games of the 2011 season because he was unable to fully heal.

Cooley could only play in the first five games of the season.

Chris Cooley, a Washington Redskins tight end, announced his retirement from the NFL on July 16, 2013.

Cooley expanded his role as an analyst by co-hosting “Cooley & Kevin,” a morning drive-time sports show on ESPN 980 in Washington, D.C., with his partner, Kevin Sheehan.

The show, however, was canceled in 2018.
