Charlie Sykes is the editor-in-chief of the website The Bulwark and a political pundit in the United States. On Milwaukee’s WTMJ, Charlie Sykes presented a conservative talk show.

Early life and Childhood

On November 11, 1954, Charlie Sykes was born in Seattle, Washington. He is a man in his sixties.

He lived in New York and Fox Point, Wisconsin later in life.

Katherine “Kay” Border and Jat G.Sykes gave birth to him.

His father was a lawyer who went on to work for many small New York newspapers as a journalist.

Jay later became a member of the Wisconsin chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union’s board of directors.

It ran for Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin against Martin J. Schreiber in the 1970 primary but lost.

Charlie Sykes got a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee after graduating from Nicolet High School in 1975.

While attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Sykes converted to Roman Catholicism at the age of 18.

Professional Career 

Sykes is The Bulwark’s founder and editor-at-large, as well as the host of The Bulwark Podcast.

He also appears on NBC and MSNBC.

In 1975, he began his career as a writer by working for a year at the weekly The Northeast Post in West Allis, Wisconsin.

In 1976, he started as a reporter for The Milwaukee Journal, covering issues in the North Shore suburbs.

After seven years of reporting in the Milwaukee region, Sykes went to Cleveland as a staff writer for Cleveland Magazine.

The magazine, however, went out of business by the end of the year.

He returned to Milwaukee in 1983 as managing editor of Milwaukee Magazine and was appointed editor-in-chief in January 1984.

He published features, investigative investigations, and commentary for Milwaukee Magazine.

Sykes is also a recognized author, specializing in the topic of education.

Professors and the Decline of Higher Education, his first book, was released in 1988 and was motivated by his father’s postmortem essay published in October 1985.

He’s written for a variety of periodicals, including Imprimis, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.

He also served as an editor for WI Interest magazine and the Right Wisconsin website.

On July 26, 2005, WTMJ settled a libel lawsuit with Spanish Journal editor Robert Miranda for $5,000 over a November 2004 blog post in which Sykes claimed Miranda in 1991.

It planned a violent demonstration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee against a “pro-American” event, which Sykes later denied.

In 2016, he did not support Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy.

Rather than campaigning against him, they put a write-in vote for Evan McMullin, an independent conservation candidate.

Late in 2015, Sykes revealed that he had planned to leave his radio show for unclear personal reasons, and he did so in October 2016.
