Charlie Frattini, star of Naked and Afraid XL, recently suffered a massive stroke that resulted in serious medical complications. Thankfully, his wife, Emily Gorecki, was by his side during his difficult times.
The TV personality and former Marine Corps member’s medical condition deteriorated after he developed COVID-induced atrial fibrillation and pericardial effusion on December 17, 2021.
As a result, he was hospitalized for several weeks.
On January 8, 2022, his health began to improve slightly.
Frattini collapsed at work three days later, on January 11, 2022, from what is believed to be a massive ischemic stroke.
He was admitted to Portland’s Maine Medical Center and confined to the Neurological ICU after the stroke caused extensive irreversible brain damage and left-side paralysis.
He was expected to be in the hospital for several weeks more.
Frattini was diagnosed with “extensive irreversible brain damage and left-side paralysis” in late January 2022, according to Knox Village Soup, and his longtime girlfriend turned wife, Emily Gorecki, was holding out hope.
Gorecki decided to start a Go Fund Me page because Frattini was going to be in the hospital for an extended period of time and might need long-term care.
So far, $71,420 of the $200,000 goal has been raised. It was written on the page:

We are asking for assistance in getting Charlie and his family to a safe, accessible home for his new abilities, as well as assistance in his evolving lifelong medical journey.
“While we cannot predict what life has in store for Charlie as his journey continues,” the statement continued, “we can ensure his safety, comfort, and best care.”
Locals in their community and others who raised funds through charity and auctions also contributed.

They gave the Frattini family the proceeds from their bar and dining room sales that day.
Similarly, another fundraiser event was planned for May 14, 2022, at the Rockport Opera House in Rockport.
The event was a benefit dinner and silent auction to raise funds for Frattini’s medical expenses and Gorecki’s home renovations.
Gorecki had planned to make some changes to their home and finish some renovations after learning of her husband’s medical condition.
The change would make their home more accessible, allowing Frattini to live there and practice his skills to the fullest.

Frattini appears to be on the mend and doing well.
On June 1, 2022, he posted an Instagram video in which he was in a wheelchair and learning to walk again with the assistance of a professional.
The next day, he posted another update, revealing that he was at the Main Medical Center at the time to have his cranyotomy repaired.
“They put my skull back today at 5 a.m.,” he wrote in the caption.
“I’m recuperating hopefully that’ll give me a little boost in cognitive performance with my stroke.
I have pictures of the actual operation of reattaching my brain to my skull if anyone wants to share them privately only.”
On June 6, Frattini posted a photo of himself in the hospital. He was pictured in a wheelchair, about to eat his breakfast.
Newton, his dog, sat beneath his wheelchair.
Similarly, the next day, he shared another photo, this time of his wheelchair’s red temporary parking license.
“All right, it’s official. “I can now park anywhere,” he wrote in the caption.
The construction expert hasn’t provided any updates on his health since then.

On September 29, 2019, Frattini and Gorecki exchanged wedding vows near a dockyard in front of family and friends.

The couple currently resides in Thomaston, where they work on restoration projects.
They relocated there in 2016 after a lengthy stay in New York City, where Frattini worked in the high-rise building construction market.
